You arrive in the Wild Woods, at the entrance to a small village. Above and around you are pines, ancient and knotted yet proud.
The NPC villagers walk around the small market, simulating every day activities. There is small stable nearby, the pastures occupied by horses and large fluffy avians. Knock-off chocobos you figure and move to the tavern.
Outside is a job board, with a quest marker indicating the starting point. Meanwhile, inside you hear the merry cheer of patrons, and a half dozen player names.

You peak inside.
Joseph Law and Madame Flint are sharing a table. Farrah is teasing Vex, who is staring at a collection of potions being offered by Raven.
Being the highest level player present he draws your immediate attention. A birdman wearing simple robes with bandoliers of glowing glass vials. Several are set in front of him, with a small sign saying "free potions".
You watch Vex for a moment as he makes a decision, and drinks the potion down. In a flash of light, his body changes losing the reptilian features he previously possessed. "Oh thank god." Vex sighs, and shakes the Tengu's hand.
"Your very welcome, just be certain not to let it happen again."
Vex nods, "What about these ones? They're experience exilirs, right?"
"Yes, however I would..."
He was cut off, as Vex grabbed a couple of vials and greedily swallowed them down.

Vex laughed, pleased with himself. That was, until everything began changing. He grew smaller, a furry tail exploding from his rear. Brown fur covered his body and...

Farrah burst out into laughter, as Raven simply stared in silence. It squeaked and barked a storm, until Farrah plucked Vex the Otter into a rucksack.
Raven looks at you, and waves. Cautiously, you step away and look back at the notice board.
