Easy levels was an opportunity too good to ignore. You head back inside, catching a few glimpses of the other players inside. You immediately make your way over to Raven, beneath the drabness, beady intelligent eyes regarded you with interest.
You point at the potions, the elixirs of experience specifically. "Hello. I was wanting to ask about these, seems too valuable to be giving away for free."
Raven nods sagely, "They're not without risk or cost. You'll gain levels, but not necessarily in classes you desire."
"So what happened to that Vex guy?"
"He turned in an Otter." Raven replied, "Your new here. So I'll give you one piece of advice, forget what you know about monsters in other MMORPGs. These ones are perverted, and be careful about who you meet, players aren't always any different."
"Uhh... Perverted?"
"Lose a fight, and you might find yourself becoming their plaything. Eaten is the best fate you could hope for, some will use you for breeding, others might decide to leave you smelling like a trash dump."
You shudder, "Seriously?"
"Seriously. Plenty of Monsters out there that are players who have just given into their new bodies."
"So, that Vex guy?"
"Yup. Probably thinks he is an Otter now. Hopefully he gets to town, where he can be restored but I doubt it."
Suddenly, you felt less confident in drinking the experience potions. Noticing your apprehension, Raven shakes his head. "Don't worry, he drank far too much too quickly but it will leave you changed. Look, here." He points to the labels and each has the rough shape of an animal, indicating the kind of creature you will turn towards.
"Just drink a small amount, if you gain too many levels in the creature. It'll take over. So, what will it be?"
