Chapter #2

Probably should have went to class...

by: Andy Wilson Author IconMail Icon
Dylan decides that class just isn't an option today, for he's way too tired and already ahead on his work. He deserves the break. Setting his backpack in his locker, he shuts the door and makes his way toward the library.
As he steps into the quiet room, he looks around to see a few familiar faces. Katelyn, one of the kindest girls he's ever met, sits at a table studying. She looks up to see him, smiles, and waves. He waves back and continues to walk through the room.

Ashley and Paisley, twin sisters, sit side by side at the computers. They giggle and laugh among each other. Dylan could use the humor of the two in his day, and he walks towards them. However, another girl walks to them and sits in the only open seat. He continues to walk.

The last, and less wanted face he wanted to see, is Kasie, his ex-girlfriend. Bumping her in the hall by accident most likely made her want to rip his throat out. She is looking at some odd book. He turns the other direction and heads for the fiction section.

As he scrolls through the aisles of the books, he remembers that he has a TEST that day in Math! His heart begins to race.

"Shit! The one day I decide to ditch class!" he says to himself.

Just at that moment, he starts to feel that same eerie tightness upon his skin and insides as he had felt moments before. He wants to scream in pain, but his mouth can hardly even move, almost as if it is sealed shut. He drops to his knees and starts grasping at his heart.

Closing his eyes, his only thoughts are on screaming for help. He tries to pry his mouth open, but his efforts cause no change. The pain is unbearable!

Eventually, his mouth begins to budge open, and soon enough he lets out a scream loud enough for the whole school to hear. He opens his eyes...and cannot believe his surroundings.

Everything around him must have grown fifty feet! The books, the shelves, even the godforsaken people. He begins to panic. He needs to be noticed. Which way should he go?
