Chapter #7

With Friends Like These

    by: Frost Author IconMail Icon
"They already know," Chie answered with a giggle. "They don't want you to leave either."

This was not the answer he was expecting. As it turned out, the friends and bonds he made along the way couldn't bear to let him go.

"You can't be serious," he said flatly. He was hoping this was all some kind of practical joke. That in the next room, all his friends were waiting for him ready to tell him it was all for laughs. Surely his girlfriend didn't just admit to purposefully kidnapping him because she loved him too much.

"I mean it, Yu-kun," she said softly, knowing he wouldn't be one-hundred percent on board with the plan. She knew he would need some convincing. "I asked the others about doing this first, and we all agreed that this would be the best way to keep you here with us."

He couldn't blame them. A part of Yu did not want to go home back to the city. In Inaba, he was a big fish in a small pond. It was much easier to make friends in a place where the options were limited. He was going to miss the place, and he was going to miss his friends.

Still, he had a life. He hadn't seen his parents in a year. And while he grew to love his uncle and his pseudo little sister Nanako, they weren't a replacement.

At the moment, Yu figured he was best off biding his time and trying to convince his girlfriend that this wouldn't be all she thought it would be.

Chie kept her gentle smile as she carried him over to her bedroom. Yu kept quiet, trying to process what he was just told. He was a bit too preoccupied with his thoughts to think about the fact that this was the first time he was alone with Chie in her bedroom. It was cluttered, something he expected from his normally disorganized girlfriend. Though, he was a bit surprised by the punching bag and the weights. Stuffed animals sat on the shelves and her work desk, where school supplies dominated the surface.

The girl dropped down onto the bed, sitting cross legged. She set her boyfriend down in front of her. A thought in the back of her mind kept telling her how cute he was at this size, and she had to fight the urgeo hold him close to her again. All of a sudden, her mouth felt dry. Even at his tiny size, Yu was a larger than life presence, making Chie still feel like she wasn't enough for him. She couldn't bear to even risk losing him to some girl in the big city. She felt stupid for even thinking that. However, somehow, Yu had chosen her over Yukiko and Rise, and that meant she had to hold onto him for dear life.

"So... this is me," Chie said, lacing her statement with a nervous laugh. "Sorry about the mess."

"It's fine," Yu said, his saintly composure kicking in.

Yu paced around the bed, thinking about what next. As far as he knew, he was stuck here for a while.
