Chapter #3

A sceptre

    by: Aaa Author IconMail Icon
Adam and Simon had spent weeks working on this project, and the amateur archaeologists had spent quite the time and money to be invited on this trip. They didn't want to end up with nothing, they needed the money. The location was supposedly the tomb of Queen Niratti, who's name, and a curse involved with her tomb were all that was really known.

If there had been a tomb here, it was located deep in the confusing maze that was the nearby pyramid, or else buried by time and sand deeper then they could go with their tools, so when Simon managed to spot something, they leapt at the opportunity. Besides, they didn't believe in any curses, what was the harm in taking it? He picked up the scepter, and recognized it right away.

"This is a heqa-sceptre, one of those rounded crooks that Pharaohs carried. We should take this to the boss, he'll be sure to reward us!" Simon said, only for Adam to scoff. "Why? He's not gonna give us jack shit, he'll just sell it to some private collector or give it to some dusty British museum. I say we get ahead, put out some feelers, sell it on the black market to some private collector ourselves, and that way we pocket the money!"

In his greed he did not notice the sceptre glowing softly, and neither did Simon. "Are you sure about this? If we get found out we'll be in big trouble, we'll be lucky just to get deported back to the UK! I don't want any trouble Adam, I'm not cut out for prison." Simon replied, very much unsure of his friend's sanity doing this.

"No one will know unless you rat us out, now let's get back to the hotel, be quiet, and let me handle this. You've got to post this stuff on the right forums if you don't want to get caught or scammed." Adam replied, slinging an arm around his friend. "We're gonna be rich Simon, just wait and see! Better us then some rich businessman. Like I said, he's just gonna do the same thing we're doing anyway, or seal it away in some dusty museum."

The two set off in the land cruiser they had rented for the trip, and set off back to the hotel in Luxor. Once there, they carefully hid the sceptre and took it up to their room, where Adam took pictures of it, uploaded it to the computer and set about carefully advertising the object for sale. His greed getting the better of him, he had to thought to make a forgery.

Simon was no stranger to making them, but he might still balk at the task. How far he could push his friend was a question he needed to know. Something told him he should return it though, and he began to struggle with the choice. The curse, was it perhaps real? Could he be killed by it? Maybe he should return it. But then he'd have come here for nothing, and would be back to making ends meet in dead end jobs back in Manchester.

You have the following choices:

1. Make a forgery

*Noteb*
2. Return the sceptre

*Noteb*
3. Other

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
