Chapter #3

His cell phones starts ringing.

    by: Saracen1187 Author IconMail Icon
Still recovering from what had happened to him, it took a moment for Bill to realize what the vibrating in his coat pocket was. His phone was ringing, and he knew who it was before he even answered. His wife Cheryl's number was showing up on the phone screen. Exhaling deeply, Bill let the phone ring a couple more times. "You gonna answer that Bill?" Julie, the barmaid asked him as she poured a whiskey for another patron.

"My brain is telling me not to. It's the wife!" Bill grumbled, scratching his chin.

"Ahh, okay then." Julie smirked, before getting back to what she was doing. After pouring a couple more drinks, she grabbed her cloth and wiped the bar down.

Bill finally answered his phone, and he instantly heard his wife's irritating voice on the other end of the line. "Are you coming home today?" She barked down the phone.

"I'm thinking about it." Bill replied calmy, before downing the glass of rum in front of him.

"You're in the bar again aren't you? For fuck's sake Bill!" Cheryl nagged. "Well when you drag your ass out of that shithole you can call at the convenience store, we need some milk and some bread. And Tina wants a top-up for her phone." She went on, as Bill put his other hand over his face and just listened reluctantly.

"Right, gotcha!" Bill groaned, only for Cheryl to hang up on him abruptly. "Yeah, love you too!" He sighed, sounding as sarcastic as he could. After a moment to gather his senses, Bill looked up and straight towards Julie. "One more drink!" He said to her. "Please."

"Alright Bill, last one!" Julie smiled, shaking her head slightly.

Bill was still astonished how the weird stranger had made him sober so quick. There was also some resentment towards the guy too, since he'd spent good money getting drunk. "Don't suppose you want to go home to my wife do you?" Bill aked Julie with a forced chuckle.

"I would Bill, but I don't think my boyfriend would appreciate you turning up at my home instead of me." The pretty, 29-year old barmaid joked back.

"Thought I'd ask." Bill shrugged, quickly downing his last shot of rum. "Thanks for the drinks darlin'" He then said, getting to his feet and heading towards the bar entrance.

"Bye honey." Julie responded.

All the time, Bill's head was swimming with the knowledge of his supposed new power, and he actually wondered if he could actually swap people's heads around. A part of him wanted to try it on Julie, but he liked her too much to do that. He didn't want to 'downgrade' her by giving her a less attractive female body... or even a male body. It did intrigue him though. As he stepped out of the bar, he wondered if he should test his power out on people in the street, or just head home to his annoying wife and his two ungrateful kids.

You have the following choices:

1. Testing our his power.

2. Heading on home.
