"Dam this!" Spike cursed on one fine summer afternoon, throwing his feather duster to the ground in anger.
He jumped off the stool he used to stand on to reach higher areas to clean and sat down on one of the plush chairs in study, sighing, feeling both exhausted and miserable.
After becoming the Princess of Friendship, Twilight's castle was often a place chosen for rather large celebration, which left it messy, and it was then poor Spike's duty to clean it from top to bottom afterwards.
At first he had little problem cleaning the castle, always finishing his chores before Twilight arrives back home, but these days it was becoming increasingly harder.
Not only were the parties growing larger but the sheer size of the castle left Spike very tired at the end of the day. It was not like the library, which had been smaller and much easier to clean.
Spike had complained to Twilight about this, who had also realized that some of the work in the castle was not finished, for the dragon was finding less and less time to finish his chores.
She hired some help to clean the castle, something the dragon was very grateful for, but then they received the hefty bill and realized that they couldn't afford the housekeepers.
And now Spike was alone again. He wished there was a way to receive free help, but he knew that was impossible. It was not like he could make copies of himself...
Wait a minute! Spike jumped off the chair, grinning, for he was just struck by a wonderful idea. He could make copies of himself, for Starlight had unblocked the passage the led to the mirror pool.
He dashed out of the study and left the castle.

Spike looked at his reflection in the magical pool. He was nervous, for he remembered what happened to Pinkie Pie the last time she used it. But Spike only wanted to make copies of himself for a little while.
If it got out of hand Twilight could always fix it, couldn't she? He just had to make sure she could identify him amongst the hoard of other Spikes.
"Well, here I go..."
Spike stepped into the pond and he felt the world around him spin. The next thing he knew he was standing on the pond's bank again, but this time there was another Spike staring at him.
The original Spike smiled triumphantly to himself. His plan was going to work so well.
