Chapter #4

An argument saved for later.

You were relieved to see Joe reluctantly nod and slowly rise to her feet. You ushered her out of the ballet school and caught her giving Ina and Tia death glares. The two girls merely shrugged, throwing her an innocent smile. Those smiles vanished when you whispered, "We'll talk later."

The ride home was quiet and uncomfortable. You sat next to Joe more to keep an eye on her and to make certain Ina or Tia don't make anything worse. You knew that a little girl experience with one or two ballet lessons would not harm Joe in the least. Once turned back to normal, you were certain he would eventually get over it and laugh it off. It was dad you were worried about; he would take advantage of the rough first experience to show him the wonders of his mad science.

"Dad wants to pass on his knowledge, I get that." Frowning, you thought. "Only he is so rarely around that mom almost literally had to raise us all by herself."

To you, dad did not deserve to teach Joe anything unless he did something grand to make up for all the years he was never around. Sure, he lived at the house but he would leave for weeks or even months at a time, only home long enough to explain his absence in private to mom then stay for maybe the weekend and then be gone again. Mom promised to explain dad's long 'business trips' to you when she felt you were ready but that time had not yet come. You turned to Joe to see her pouting in silence and sighed. You feared she would raise the roof with her screams the second the front door was closed.

Mom, you noticed, was very quiet. You caught a glimpse of her eyes in the rear view mirror; they were filled with worry and concern. There was no doubt in your mind that she was thinking along the same lines as you were. Upon reaching the house, mom calmly escorted everyone inside then set up a privacy spell the second the door was closed. You turned to Joe and immediately sighed upon seeing....

You have the following choices:

*Noteb*
1. him turn back to normal.

2. dad standing behind her.

3. her impatiently tapping one foot.

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
