The following morning, you came down for breakfast to find mom making herself a cup of tea, her hands shaking slightly. "Rough night with dad?" Gently, you asked.
Mom sighed. "Your father insisted that I had violated certain boundaries but I shot that down quickly enough." Tiredly, she explained. "I finally got him to, albeit reluctantly, agree that Joe needs magic resistance training no matter what he decides."
"I already had my mad science resistance training." Shuddering, you said. "The twins are still too young despite having magic at an early age."
"Just don't be surprised if your father decides to test that resistance." Frowning, mom said. "He has made it clear that he intends to become more involved with the family now that I had made the first move."
You rolled your eyes. "Fantastic..." Sarcastically, you said.
Just then, Ina and Tia walked in for their breakfast. They teleported bowls from the cupboards then summoned a spoon for each of them then summoned their favorite cereal into the bowls before summoning the milk. Mom could only shake her head then turned to see Joe enter, looking refreshed.
"Good morning, Joe." Kindly, she said. "Ready for breakfast?"

You turned to Ina and Tia who shrugged, confused then turned to mom who sighed. "Geo..." Whispering, she muttered. She then forced a smile. "That was your father."
Joe smiled. "It's good to see him taking a more active role." Calmly, he said. "He's so rarely around, you had to raise us pretty much on your own."
Mom smiled at that, glad that Joe appreciated her hard work to raise the family. "Your father still loves all of you deeply." Softly, she said. "He's just away because..."
"I am always closer than you realize." Entering the room, dad said. "Joe has seen my office and he knows where it is." He smiled at him. "The door is always open if you wish to talk about anything."
"As is mine." Smiling, mom said.
Joe chuckled. "I thought it was us kids who were supposed to fight for your attention." Bemused, he said. "It's ironic."
Mom and dad looked at each other for a moment, perplexed. You laughed, catching onto the irony of it all with Ina and Tia following though you suspected they really did not grasp what the joke was. Eventually, mom and dad laughed as well, albeit a bit nervously. Joe had caught on to part of their tension and called them out on it.
Shortly after breakfast, you found...
