Joe examined the doorknob of the front door. "You're right, Gina." Frowning, he said. "The handle is wet with something; no doubt meant to change whoever touches it."
You nodded then looked at the other doors that lead to other parts of the first floor. "For all we know all of the doors are rigged somehow." Worried, you muttered.
"For all we know, any loose floorboard could hide some mechanism that sets off any kind of trap." Serious, Joe countered. "I doubt the windows will offer any help as they all seemed to be boarded up on the outside."
You watched as Joe looked about, as if searching for something. He was a big fan of mystery and suspense novels and you were hoping his love for the subject will come in handy. "What are you looking for?" Curious, you asked. "Can I help?"
"I'm looking for dust." Cryptically, Joe replied. "I need a good pile of dust."
This surprised you but you waited as Joe finally found a good pile of dust in a corner of the room and scooped it into his hands. "Here goes nothing." Muttering, he said.
Joe sprinkled a tiny amount of dust onto the door knobs in the room, including the front door. Curious, you continued to watch as he then carefully examined each door knob. "What are you doing?" Confused, you asked.
"Whoever brought us here had to have left in a normal fashion since magic apparently does not work here." Serious, Joe explained. "Once we find the door knob with finger prints on it, we will know the first direction to take in this crazy house maze."
It was an interesting plan though you knew that whoever brought you and Joe here could have raised the magic suppression field after he or she had teleported out. Still, it was better than doing nothing and you guessed that Joe had learned this trick through one of his books.
"Did you find anything?" After a pause, you asked.
