"Hey, sweetie. Good morning."
The young four and a half-year-old boy started to sit up in his bed.
"Ready for your first big day?" Mom sat on the edge of his bed, looking at him.
Keith nodded, feeling butterflies in his stomach. Today was his first day at this place called 'preschool'. He felt nervous, but he was still excited.
"Alright, first, let's check to see if you were dry." Mom took Keith by the hand and got him out of bed. Keith started to undress, taking off his pants, revealing his night Pull-Up. The stars were faded.
"Awww..." He said, a little sad, but understanding. He still had a ways to go.
"Let's get you into some good clothing for the day." Mom got out some underwear for Keith to change into, which he began to put on, and then she got out two shirts.
"Red or green?" she asked.
"Green," Keith affirmed.
Soon, Keith was outfitted in a green shirt, brown shorts, and grey shoes with white socks.
Trish and dad were already at the breakfast table. Trish was eating in a white T-shirt and her pink Pull-Up, eating some oatmeal, and being watched by Dad.
"You excited for the big day, champ?" Dad asked, and Keith nodded.
The morning meal of oatmeal (brown sugar flavored) passed by quickly.
"Trish, do you have to go potty?" Mom asked Trish.
"...no," Trish said, but Keith shook his head.
"I gonna go." Keith headed to the bathroom, to pee a little. He didn't have to go that badly, but he knew that going now was better than going later.
As Keith sat down on the toilet, he heard the pattering of feet down the hall and saw Trish walk in. Trish headed over to her plastic training potty, pulling her Pull-Up down and sitting along with Keith.
The two sat for a few moments, and Keith let out a stream of pee into the potty. Once he finished, he got up and headed to wash his hands. As he cleaned up, he heard his sister peeing a little as well.
Soon, Keith was ready to get into the car. Mom was staying home to supervise Trish's potty use, so dad drove to the preschool.
Keith felt even more nervous as he walked up to the front desk with dad and got him signed in. He walked to the room, and put away his backpack like he was supposed to, looking around.
