This choice: Yes, he manage to make it outside. • Go Back...Chapter #5Hotland Escape by: Drakin A beeping in the kitchen was the sound of Asriel's freedom. Not wanting to let her latest creation burn, the sound of Toriel's footsteps retreated to the kitchen. Giving Asriel enough time in turn to slip out the door wand waddle down the path.
Once out of sight he heaved a sigh of relief. He loved his mother dearly and her cooking was incredibly wonderful, but there was just so much of it Asriel had a hard time eating it all. If only she made smaller portions...
Putting it out of his mind for now, Asriel wandered out and down the path out along the upper level that overlooked the capitol city. It was a fairly busy place, monsters moved all about among the grey stone buildings. And yet it was eerie. So many buildings were just left empty, only about one in three had anyone living in them.
Asriel had never questioned it before, but as he waddled along the path now it certainly seemed odd. Finally, panting just a little, he made it to the elevator. He wasn't looking forward to the next leg of things, but his mom would find him soon if he didn't keep moving. So he chose to ride the elevator down to the hottest location in the underground.
Arriving in Hotland, Asriel's fur dampened with sweat in minutes and his panting became stronger. Fortunately there were some respites like the hotel which he eagerly accepted in order to enjoy the cool air conditioner.
"Hey," came the voice of a monster behind the counter of a nearby burger joint, "No loitering kid. Sorry. If you want to stick around maybe you could buy something?"
Asriel groaned at the thought of more food, but his belly burbled in agreement. In the end he reluctantly bought a burger and a soda. He tried to make them last as he enjoyed the cool hotel lobby, sitting by the fountain and enjoying the soft splashes of water, but all too soon (sooner than he'd intended) he finished his burger and soda. Incredibly Asriel considered buying another just to stay there, but he had to keep moving. His Mom would be searching for him and much as he loved her food, anything she offered plus the burger he'd just consumed, he was sure would be enough to make him burst something.
Of course he'd barely left the hotel and traveled down the steps, near where the royal labs were when another friendly monster offered him a free sample of something he called 'Nicecream'. And it was nice. Again Asriel might have resisted but the heat from the lava flows was intolerable on his own padding.
Fortunately he just had to go a little further before he found the ferryman, a strange hooded monster who held others get around.
"Where too son?" the figure asked.
Asriel considered it. one the one hand Waterfall was closer, but it was home to Undyne, the head of the palace guard. She was sure to hold Asriel until his mom showed up. Provided he ran into her at all. Snowden was probably safer, but it was closer to their other home, and Toriel was likely to guess her son was making his way there.
Where does Asriel go? indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
