Ethan walked over to a large cabinet, entered the code, and opened it. Ethan pulled out… a pack of candies? "Here, take this." Despite the oddity of the situation, Sam knew that Ethan liked sweets, but didn't overindulge in them, so it wasn't strange that there was a pack of candies in his lab. "Okay," Sam said, and took the candy Ethan handed him, it was a regular red gummy. Ethan took two gummy candies, one was blue, one was green.
Despite the color of the candy, it was tasteless. After chewing and swallowing the candy, Sam felt sick. It felt like the room around him was getting smaller. "Ethan, are these candies expired?" "No, these are the candies I wanted to show you." When Sam went to look at Ethan, he realized that he no longer had to tilt his head so far to see him. In fact, he didn't have to tilt his head at all; he was already looking straight at the top of Ethan's head. "What did you do to me?" "Oh, you haven't seen what just happened to me yet."
After these words, Ethan began... to grow. The unpleasant sound of cracking bones and stretching muscles filled the room. It seemed to Sam that he and everything around him was getting smaller. When it was all over, Sam was looking straight at Ethan's neck... it was over, wasn't it? He heard the unpleasant sound of stretching muscles again, only now it was much stronger. Sam couldn't believe what he was seeing. Ethan's muscles were growing. Every breath he took made them a little bigger. His chest expanded and began to stick out of his T-shirt, his arms and legs thickened so much that they tore the beginning of his sleeves and jeans. And through the once loose T-shirt, his 8-pack abs began to show through. And when his T-shirt almost tore, the growth spurt stopped.
"...what kind of candy is that?" "Let's go up there..." Ethan raised his hand a little and was able to touch the ceiling "...a little tight." Once at the top, Ethan explained how the candies worked. The very first ones are dark and white chocolate, the black one returns your height to normal, and the white one does the same with your muscles. Next come the gummy bears; red, yellow, and orange - shrinking, and blue, green, and purple - growing. Orange decreases height by 6 inches, yellow decreases muscle by about 30 pounds, and red decreases proportionally by 6 inches. Green gummy bears increase muscle by 30 pounds, purple increases height by 6 inches, and blue increases height by 6 inches proportionally. There is also a catalyst, a white spherical candy, one amplifies the effect by 2 times and acts simultaneously on all candies consumed with it. It was thanks to it that Ethan was able to grow so much. The second to last is a caramel. There are as many types as there are gummy bears, but the growth principle is different. For example, if you eat a blue candy and 2 catalysts, then every hour you will gradually grow by 3 inches for 6 hours. Plus, if you eat several, say, blue candies, you will grow by a foot in 12 hours, and so on. And finally, licorice. If you eat it with a gummy bear or a chocolate bar, its effect will only work when you fall asleep. If you eat it with a caramel, then the effect will appear at night for 6 days. For example, you ate a blue candy, licorice and a catalyst, then every night you will grow by 2 inches until you grow by a foot.
"Okay, can I have some dark chocolate then?" Ethan forgot when he said this that Sam was still wrinkled. "Sure, but you'll have to eat both white and dark chocolate, if you only eat dark, you'll grow in height but not in muscle." "Roger that, boss." With that, Sam went back into the basement and Ethan dug into his pocket and found a small bag of candy. 3 blue candies, 3 green candies, 4 catalysts, a bar of white and dark chocolate, and a piece of licorice. To put it bluntly, Ethan was tired of being small. At school, he was made fun of for his height, and at home, he had an older 17-year-old brother, Todd, who was a giant of a 7'10" with huge muscles. He wanted to outshine him so much that the difference between them would be laughable. Which meant he needed to eat all that candy.
So let's do the math. First he ate both candies to get back to normal (5'7") 3 blue and 3 green candies with licorice would give him 18 days of growth, with 4 catalysts would give him 5 inches of growth and about 25 pounds of muscle every day. After a little calculation he realized that by the end he would be 10'7"... that would be nice, but to completely humiliate him they needed to... shrink Todd.
The plan was hatched immediately. Sneak into his room at night and put 3 red candies with 2 catalysts and licorice in his mouth. But let's move away from Ethan and move on to Sam, who stole a couple of candies. In principle, no big deal, Ethan can still create more, but what will he do with them? We'll find out some other time.
Sam then left and after about 30 minutes Toby walked in. "Hey little things." He looked at the bag of candy. "Eat sweets without me!! How unforgivable." "What do you want Todd?" It was a choice game. If I gave him the candy he would laugh at me all weekend and if not I would be beaten up. "Well, give me those candies." "We have plenty of them on that shelf." "You don't get me, give me THAT candies." "Take it." "Oh, that's easy?" ...silence hung in the room, Ethan could almost hear the minions in Toby's head plotting ways to make fun of him. "Oh, how about you feed me, shrimp?" This was what Ethan was waiting for.
The huge giant opened his mouth and closed his eyes, it was now or never. He took out some shrinking candy from his bag and shoved it into Todd's mouth as hard as he could, making Todd choke. He didn't have much time, he needed to run to his room, lock it and pin it down with something. "Cough cough YOU LITTLE SHIT" Ethan could already hear Todd getting up, but he was already at the door and quickly shutting it he backed into the corner. A few loud knocks and Todd realized that he couldn't get into the room... Ethan had done it! According to his calculations, over the next 18 days, Todd would shrink by 2 inches a day, eventually becoming 4'10" tall.
All that's left to do is eat his growth candy and go to sleep... The next day, Ethan was 6'0" and Toby was 7'8", so where do we go from here?
