This choice: Stick with Joey as he starts to get used to the idea of being mountain-sized. • Go Back...Chapter #8Stick with Joey as he starts to get used to the... by: Kilbil As he bore witness to the destruction he had wrought with but his mere presence alone, Joey was paralyzed. Feilds of wheat had been reduced to pulp underneath his heel, bits and pieces of nearby towns reduced to smudged debris that lined the sides of his soles. Even with the abrupt course correction that the young boy had done, it still wasn't enough to account for the unrelenting tidal wave of unrelenting wind that had been unleashed un the aftermath. Practically everything within a 20-mile radius had been blown away in massive gale storms that rivaled the strongest of hurricanes. What was left of the settlements that had been spared from the initial onslaught were at the mercy of the stray drops of sweat coming from his body, the most fortunate quickly being reduced to red pulp as the impact liquidized their remains.
This was not at all what Joey wanted. He knew he had to fix this immediately, so the reached out towards his neck where the medallion was firmly...
Where did the medallion go!?
As his hand met with bare skin with not a single brush of gold to spare, his world shattered once more. Yet more hands desperately searched every corner of his body for a sign of the shimmering metal, even going so far as to quickly scan his area in case he had happened to place it down somewhere. Alas, his desperate search would prove to bear no fruit, and he would quickly come to realize to his mounting horror that there was no turning back for him.
No...nonononono, Joey though to himself, there's no way I accidentally dropped it! There was no way that I'm stuck like this!
W-Whatever! he continued. I-It's not like I needed that stupid thing anyway! It's already done more than enough! But what am I going to do about this!?
He'd become so ridiculously huge that he couldn't even begin to imagine how anyone could possible enjoy this! All he'd wanted was to just surpass Sam in height, maybe gain a few extra muscles over him. He didn't want to be this... this lumbering mountain in human form! The ground felt so soft now, like clumps of wet sand at the beach or chewed-up porridge left out to rot in the sun. And
he can see the smoke clouds around the impact site of his foot as well as the snaking cracks from the shattered earth that consumed entire forests! Everything that he did had an immediate, visceral impact on his world, entire crop fields heaving and shattering into bits of broken clay and slit and peat that shifted through his toes effortlessly. And the entire city, that vast metropolis that had always seemed so huge to Joey but was now barely the size of his foot, could do nothing but watch, completely helpless as they were forced to bear witness to the unrivaled power that this little boy had, a deity that rival mountains, who could callously end their lives in the time it took to get up from bed.
It made him feel so... so...
Powerful.
Huh. Maybe he could get used to this.
In a way isn't this what he wanted? Now there was no doubt who the bigger brother was. Man, he could just see the look on Sammy-boy's face when he saw that his shrimpy little brother could turn the entire city into a footprint without even trying! Every time he'd made him feel small, he'd now feel it a million times over, every day, forever and ever! Served him right for pushing him around all the time!
Assuming that he was still in one piece anyway. And that he wasn't a smear of red after-!
He could do whatever he wanted now! He could stay up for as long as he wanted and no one could tell him to go to bed or brush his teeth or do any of that lame, boring stuff. Everything that had been denied him, everything that had been barred because he was "not old enough" or "couldn't understand", none of that could stand in his way now! He could do anything!!
Well, he couldn't exactly go hang out with his friends at the local ice cream parlor or go to the arcades. They were all kind of... too speck-sized for him. But still! He could get people to build that stuff for his size! And... and he could get them to make stuff for his friends so that he could communicate with them!
He'd have to be careful - like, really careful, as in 'he couldn't let himself touch anything that looked like grey carpeting' careful - but he could make this work. He just had to convince the world that he meant business, and that he wouldn't be a threat to them so long as they followed some ground rules. Now how he was going to accomplish that was another question, but he had all the time and power in the world to find a way... indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
