The doctor looked over the clipboard then pulled out another clipboard & looked at it as he said, “the experiment starts right now. You will shrink 15 inches in height to start off the experiment. But then each night while you sleep you will shrink again. So when you wake up each morning you will be 18 inches shorter than you were the day before. You will stop shrinking at 1 inch tall. You will stay an inch tall for 5 days before you automatically start growing back when you sleep at night. Each day you will write a blog about your reaction & your experiences as your friends, family, teammates & the world seems to grow around you as you get shorter. Also once you start growing back you will also write a blog about your reaction & your experiences as your friends, family, teammates & the world seems to shrink as you grow taller. Now you will be shrinking proportionally so you’ll still be Big & muscular for your current height. Now you ready to start?” Sam asked, “when do I get the first payment? Yes I’m ready to start.”
Doctor Andrews replied, “the money will be in your account by the time we’re done with our first session. Now let’s begin. To start I’ll have to insert an IV into your right arm which will allow the specifically made shrinking serum to get in to your body to start the shrinking. Now once it starts flowing you’ll fall asleep for about an hour or two.” Sam nodded as the doctor inserted the IV into his right arm & pushed a button on the control panel. The serum began flowing in to Sam immediately. Sam’s eyes got heavier & heavier as he struggled to stay awake but soon drifted off to sleep. Once Sam was sound asleep Doctor Andrews got up & walked away.
Some time later Sam fast asleep in the recliner began to hear his name being called as he began coming out of his sleep. “Sam. Sam. Are you awake?” Sam opened his eyes to see the doctor standing beside his recliner. The doctor said, “welcome back. Stand up. But be careful when doing so as your balance might be a bit off for a few seconds due to having shrunk.” Sam asked, “did I really shrink?” The doctor said, “stand up & see for your self.” Sam stood up but found he was a bit shaky but quickly stabilized himself as he took a few steps forward. Sam looked at Doctor Andrews & what he saw shocked him. Before he came up to just below the bottom of Sam’s chest. But now he came up to the top of Sam’s shoulders. Sam looked down to see what Doctor Andrews was standing on but found his feet were flat on the floor. Sam knew right then that he had actually shrunk. Sam exclaimed, “holy crap. It worked I actually got shorter. So now what? I just thought of the fact that I still have to tell my parents. I don’t know how to break it to them.” Doctor Andrews replied, “actually while you were asleep I called your father & told him that you were here. Your father & I are best friends & he knew about my experiments & wanting volunteers. He was going to ask you anyway. So you don’t have to worry about that. Now for what’s next. I’d like to measure you again height wise. But I also want to check your vitals, weight & the size of your waist, legs, arms, chest, neck & shoulders again now that you’ve shrunk to make sure that there’s no abnormalities. So if you will stand on the scale.”
Sam stepped on the scale. Doctor Andrews looked at the weight & wrote it down as he said, “looks good so far. Go stand against the wall & I’ll measure you.” Sam stepped off the scale & went & stood against the wall. Doctor Andrews grabbed the step stool & quickly measured Sam’s height. He said, “it’s official you are just 6 feet 1 inches tall now. Just imagine tomorrow I won’t need this step stool so I can measure you as you’ll be looking up to me. If I figured it right tomorrow you’ll be just 4 feet 7.” Sam replied, “dang. I’ll be the shortest guy in school then. That’s going to be weird.” Doctor Andrews said, “okay. I’m going to measure your muscles particularly your shoulders, chest, arms & neck while I’m standing on this step stool. I’ll measure your neck & shoulders first. Turn so your back is to me.” Sam turned as the doctor wrapped the tape measure around his neck then wrote the measurement down. Doctor Andrews then stretched the tape across Sam’s shoulders then wrote the measurement down. Doctor Andrews stepped down & quickly did the other measurements & wrote them down. Doctor Andrews then checked Sam’s vitals as he asked, “so how do you feel Sam? Because on paper all your measurements & vitals look good.” Sam replied, “I feel really good now.” Doctor Andrews replied, “okay. Good. You may get dressed in these clothes in these clothes that we brought in for you while you were asleep. We also got you some smaller tennis shoes & socks as your clothes & shoes you were wearing when you arrived are now too big for you. Then you can drive home. But I want you to check in with me each day to get measured. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
Sam got dressed & put his other clothes & shoes in his gym bag then headed out the way he came. As he stepped in to the lobby he saw Sara was already gone for the day.
