Chapter #8

Neighborhood Park Sidewalk

    by: Dread Author IconMail Icon
My heart pounds as the winds pick up and sends me speeding between the gigantic holes of a chain link fence and then upwards into the sky. I watch as a blimp sized mosquito zooms past me and the dandelion seed only for a godzilla sized dragonfly to break and sound barrier and eat the mosquito right out of the sky, it's rotor blade-like wings cause the dandelion seed to be whisked off course again. From way above I see that the dandelion seed is making its way towards the neighborhood park which isn't too far from my house but at this size it may as well be like traveling over the ocean. From below, I see adults barbequing, women tanning on bath towels, children chasing each other, and pets running about unleashed. Before I can get a better look, the dandelion seed gets hit with a severe downdraft of wind that causes me to go careening to the ground! I watch in horror as the dandelion seed glider goes at high speed towards the grass stalks that get bigger and bigger as we get closer. They go from looking like small trees to being mountains until the seed is engulfed in a dark green forest and crashes into several stalks as I am thrown off.

I travel through several more openings in the stalks of grass until I see light and end up sliding into a rough, rocky terrain. I'm covered in cuts, scrapes, and bruises but somehow nothing seriously broken besides maybe a cracked rib or two. I gingerly stand up and look to see that I'm in a massive field of cement that spans for miles in width but even further in miles in length. Outside the width of the sidewalks are skyscraping blades of grass. I am left unsure of where exactly I am at the park, I just know I'm on a sidewalk and I need to get help. Going home is not an option because it would take days, maybe weeks and I refuse to get on another dandelion seed. I start walking down the sidewalk to look for someone. I can hear the sound of laughter echoing from the forest, but the giants causing it would likely be gone before I walked to them. Not that I want to to into the grass forest, I'd be even more lost and I know that even the smallest bugs are probably semi-truck sized. I am effectively at the boom of the food chain here. Instead I opt to see if any opportunity presents itself to be seen on the sidewalk.

............................................................................ .......................

Hours pass by and my chances have been near zero at getting help. I see people but no one can notice me. A man walking his dog walks along the sidewalk but he doesn't notice as I scream out for help. The dogs ears perked up and looked towards me and I was left screaming in horror as it's world-sized nose started to hover above and my body begins to be sucked off the ground like a tornado is above but the man yanks the dog away before I can be sniffed up like pollen and drowned in a dog's wet nose. A middle-aged brunette with a pony tail wearing a white tank top, blue shorts and brown thick sandals walks across the sidewalk just ahead of me as her dirty brown sandal soles crush blades of crash and then crush into the sidewalk pavement. Each step makes the ground shake and I can't even yell or jump for attention because I'm too busy trying to keep balance as the ground quakes but it wouldn't matter, she is miles above me and I am like dust to her as she walks across at break neck speed and the grass stalks cover her from my angle.

I wonder what to do now...

You have the following choices:

*Pen*
1. Go into the grass and see if I can get to someone at the park field.

*Pen*
2. Keep going down the sidewalk.

*Pen*
3. Make camp.

*Pen* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
