Chapter #6She lets you pass. by: Kamu The bunny girl steps off the path, fading back into the foliage from whence she came. Before disappearing from your view, she looked over her shoulder at you with a smirk and said "If you ever come to your senses and realize you need these sweet feet, you know where to find me~"
You gripped the hilt of your sword and seethed silently. You continued walking down the path while constantly watching your back for monsters. You were wary before the encounter with the bunny girl, but now you were downright paranoid. Every rustle of a tree branch caused by a stray bird sent shivers up your spine. You knuckles turned white with their forceful grip on your sword.
Dusk was fast approaching, and the light filtering through the trees shone less and less. Thankfully, Galdaran was naught but a stone's throw away. You approached the towering city gates with wonder. You've certainly never seen anything like this back at home. Before you could pass through, a guard... splashed you with water? Great, now you were tired AND wet. "Hey, what was that for?" you shout at him?
"Sorry, ma'am, but we've received reports of succubi disguising themselves as human to pass through and spirit men away from their homes. Considering your skin didn't melt off your bones after being exposed to holy water, you must be human. You may pass, and enjoy your stay in Galdaran." You grumbled in response as you passed through the gates. You were hardly in the mood for pleasantries.
Even at this time of day, Galdaran was bustling. Couples were walking the cobblestone streets, merchants on carpets were hocking their exotic goods, and patrons were passing in and out of brightly-lit taverns. Speaking of which, you sure were thirsty. Besides, you needed something to wash the taste of feet out of your mouth. You walked into the first one you saw. Strangely enough, it was called "The Needy Harlot". Seedy, yes, but any port in a storm. Despite the name, the atmosphere was surprisingly nice, rather than the den of debauchery you were expecting. The red-haired busty barmaid greeted you as you took a seat at the bar. "Welcome to the Needy Harlot, what can I get for you?"
"A flagon of ale and a room for the night, please."
"Aaaaaaaallright, that'll be five gold pieces!" You slide her the gold pieces, and she slides you a room key in return. She made small talk with you as she poured your ale. "So, where're you from, stranger?"
"A small hamlet to the west."
"Oh, did you get an itch to see how us cityfolk live?"
"Actually, I'm here as part of a journey to slay the monster queen."
The barmaid looked at you funny. "You? No offense hon, but you're a tad wiry. Some of the bigger monsters would crush you into submission!" You glared at the barmaid in return. "The monster girls have taken everything from me, and I'm ready to die if it means I can drag a few monster girls to hell."
"Whatever you say, hon," uttered the barmaid as she sat down the flagon of ale in front of you. "Just remember, there's worse things than death out there. Watch yourself."
You would've asked her what she meant by that if you weren't so thirsty. You downed the flagon quickly and retreated to your room. There wasn't much to it: A bed that can comfortably fit two, a chest with a latch to fit your belongings in, and a sole window that looked out onto the city. You tossed your sword and shield into the chest and crawled into bed. The day's events left you exhausted, and you were ready to sleep. Tomorrow, you'll have your bearings regained, and hopefully you can recruit some adventurers to aid you in your cause. | Members who added to this interactive story also contributed to these: |
