Chapter #3

A random choice

by: Mr. George Author IconMail Icon
The pictures smeared across the table are all voluptuous. And you get a sick feeling in the pit of your stomach. The two agents are discussing your future transplant body. "Don't I get a say?" You ask. Surely, this most important decision, is down to you. This must be a play to trick or unsettle you.

Agent Laughlan and Cochrane just smile, refusing to defend this ridiculous idea. Their prank already called out. But, it's Laughlan who explains first. "No, it's not your choice. The witness relocation team found that our subjects tend to display a bias, that might reveal or ruin their cover. So... No, you don't get to choose."

"I still say this one." Cochrane suggests tapping his finger hard against one picture and the table beneath. "She's a woman." you observe.

"Yeah, that's part of the reason. Who'd imagine Jimmy The Squealer, would be a woman."

"I'm not 'The Squealer'." You fire back angrily.

"Well, in your old circles, you're hardly 'The Stud', the people trafficer with a side deal." Cochrane continues, enjoying your furious reaction and denial.

"Besides, you might earn that title yourself. You used to make them squeal and squirm, now it could be your name, if you want to try that side of things."

A shudder runs through you, as you think back over those 'extras' being paid for in kind. This time, it's you who's got her legs spread, and is begging and pleading.

"Ha. Ha." you bark harshly, trying to hide your discomfort. "I don't care, just don't make it a broad."

Laughlan smiled, "But, we've convinced the court, and you are only being offered women."

"No!" you snap, being pushed too far. Forcing them aside, you swipe the pictures left and right. Each one revealing another face... every one a woman.

"So tell me, who you'd most hate to be?" Cochrane asked.

You turn green, at the idea of revealing that even accidentally. "We'll keep you safe and secure, until you can testify and put this behind you."

"Yeah... yeah, behind me." you mutter in a low voice to reassure yourself. This disguise is necessary, as you are pissing of an organisation with a worth of billions, and a fetish for revenge!

"Yeah, I'll soon be back in this flesh, and free from pricks like you." you tug at your jacket lapels to show your disdain for the agents. "You'll be back in your boring job. And I'll have this all behind me."

Agent Cochrane shook his head, "Not in that body, you won't."

But, it was the nod from the doctor, and the exchanged look with the nurse that told you. Today was the last day you'd be in this form.

"Your old body will be used to create your own tragic death, and stop them looking for you." Laughlan explained.
