You slap your head as you remember what the cooler was for. You were supposed to take Jack and Mary on their little date. You walked into Jack's room expecting him to be upset with you. Instead, he looked a bit disappointed. "Jack, sweetie, what's wrong?", you ask your son.
"Mary's mom called and said that she was sick", Jack said.
"Aww, sweetie, I'm sorry", you said as you tousle his hair.
"I guess we can still go to the park, though", Jack said.
"Are... you sure?", you ask uneasily. "We could always wait until later."
"Nah, it's cool. Besides, you said to get out of the house for a little bit anyway."
"Well... alright", you tell him. You might be extremely vulnerable, but you didn't want your son to know that. You change into some work out clothes and buckle your son into the seat before driving off. Once there, Jack immediately runs off to the playground, leaving you far behind. You knew he often tried to be independent, but you couldn't help but worry for him. You lock your car and slowly start to head after your son, not want him to know you're following him.
