Chapter #6

Stay of Execution

    by: mrsadsack Author IconMail Icon
You knew going into the Dark Lands was a death sentence but you didn't expect it to kill you so fast! In the space of several seconds after shrinking two of your owners expressed a desire to eat you, one of them to sit on you, and only one wanted to spare your life merely to keep you as a pet. How you longed for a few hours ago when you didn't think your situation could get any worse. Back before you were the size of a potato chip.

"Alright!" BQ said, raising her voice above her fellow band mates. "I'm the leader and I've come to a decision!"

"Wait a minute," Spike growled. "We all pitched in for him, we should all get a vote--"

"Do you really think anyone other than you is going to vote in favor of you eating him?" BQ asked. The dragoness crossed her arms and huffed, literally letting off some steam from her nostrils. "That's what I thought," the vampire bat said smugly. "Look, girls, I get it. Roadie's shrinking accident has opened up a world of possibilities now that he's even more worthless than usual. If I'm being honest, I wouldn't mind a small snack myself." Her eyes fell onto your miniscule form and her stomach audibly growled. It took visible effort for her to get back on track. "But even a puny runt like this was a significant investment, and eating him, or crushing him, or torturing him in any way--while fucking hilarious--would also mean we blew our money on a one-time-play-session, and I'm not in the habit of wasting money!"

You dared yourself to hope. BQ's cheapskate tendencies have caused you more than a little turmoil over the course of your servitude but now it looked like it might actually save your life. Go figure.

"Now, we need a slave more than we need a snack or a toy, so until Melly says he's stuck like this, she'll be the one to keep an eye on him. Any questions?"

Spike and Ob muttered, "Fine," like a pair of sullen teenagers who weren't getting a new phone and BQ handed you over to Melancholy.

"Here you go, Mel. Work your magic."

Melancholy couldn't stop herself from letting out a purr of happiness. A smile lit up her face and you were genuinely surprised to see it there. She always seemed so cold and aloof. Apparently pathetic things were cute in her eyes.

"Thanks, Bonnie! You won't regret this!" You gasped as she raised you to her face and began rubbing you against her cheek affectionately, cuddling you aggressively. "Oh, he's so widdle and cuuuuuuuute! I just wanna pway wif him fowevah!"

"Oh for the love of Pete," BQ growled. "Don't grow getting attached to him now! He's a slave, not a pet. I bought him so a human would take care of me, not the other way around. The second you say you can't turn him back, his ass is grass. Heck, if I even catch you playing with him instead of working on a cure, I'll eat him myself! You hear me, Pussy Cat?"

Melly hissed and spat at the hated nickname.

"I'll take that as a yes. Now, enough distractions. Thanks to that little shrimp, we're behind schedule and I'm gonna have to drive all night to make up the time! So if one of you screws something up, keep it to yourselves."

"Why did we ever make her leader?" Spike muttered as she watched her go.

Ob shrugged. "Cause she owns the bus?"

"Right," the dragoness said, scratching her shredded stomach. She looked at you regretfully. "Oh well. Looks like human isn't back on the menu... at the moment," she said, flashing her fangs.

You gulped.

"Don't worry," Melly confided in you as she walked to the rooms in the back, her suitcase in her other hand. "I won't let any of those big brutes harm a widdle hair on your pwecious, widdle head."

"Ms. Melancholy!" you said loudly, hoping to talk some sense into her. "You need to change me back! They'll kill me otherwise!"

"No they won't, my little Roadie. Cause they'd have to get through me first." Her declaration did not inspire as much confidence in her as she thought. "Now, let's get you out of those clothes and into something more comfortable."

"WHAT?!"

=== Five Minutes Later ===

"This is so degrading," you muttered as you inspected yourself in the mirror. Apparently Melly hadn't just packed clothes for the trip. Inside the very suitcase you'd be forced to move to sit across from her was a huge dollhouse designed like a gothic manor, complete with fully dressed, eerie-faced dolls that looked like they could star in a horror movie. She'd removed the black, stuffy, Victorian-esque suit off of one of them and hastily put it onto you. You looked like a microscopic butler. Despite your reduced size, they were still small and tight on you, coming up past your knees and wrists.

As if I don't have enough to worry about, you thought bitterly, now I need to be afraid these dolls will come to life when I sleep and murder me for taking their friends clothes.

"It fits perfect!" Melly squealed, seeing you dressed up for the first time.

You face-palmed. "Ms. Melancholy," you said, trying to be patient, "you need to focus. You need to turn me back so I can get back to work." Man, you never thought that'd be a sentence you'd willingly utter in your life. "Can we please start looking for a cure?"

"We don't need to start looking through that dusty spellbook right away, do we?" Melancholy said playfully. "Surely we have plenty of time for one or two games!"

This was a side to Melly you'd never seen before. Sure, she seemed "nicer" than your other mistresses--not that she'd ever had to try particularly hard there--but she definitely never gave off a "warm hugs and kisses" kind of vibe. She always seemed so dark and serious, and now, the one time you needed her to be stoic and in control, she wanted to play with you like you were her pet. You needed to convince her otherwise. Blood Queen's warning was still fresh in your mind. If she caught Melly playing with you instead of working on a cure, she'd eat you without a second thought.

Can you convince Melancholy to start researching a cure or will she play some "games" with you?
