Moonbounce was a guard... she reminded herself of it for the third time. That meant no stealing cake, no eating guards, and no breaking into snack stalls. She fished around in her pocket and found her first pay packet. That could probably get her something nice. She smiled and trotted towards the restaurant. "The Gourmand Grotto: a five star Draconic Dining Delight" was proudly written on a large sign above what almost seemed like a cave entrance. A metal portcullis kept just anyone from walking in, a young adult dragon twice Moonbounce's size smiled down at her. "Welcome. We are currently serving brunch. Table for one?" the female dragon chirped excitedly.
"Please!" Moonbounce replied, feeling the enthusiasm. The gate groaned open and she was waved inside, stepping into a cave that would be pretty dark if not for the gleaming gems embedded in the walls. Artificial lights reflected off of the dazzling sapphires, rubies and emeralds to cast a multi-coloured rainbow of beautiful light. The other patrons might still have trouble seeing, but the eyes of a thestral had no problem with the dark. She was led to a small table hewn out of rock and seated on a comfortable and very smooth boulder. Her plump grey flanks spread out across the seat as she sighed, then looked for a menu.
As she looked over the menu she could see various other ponies, Zebra's and gryphons either ordering or enjoying their meals as well as a few dragons that wandered about serving guests. In the far corner of the restaurant a was a carved out opening shielded by gem covered curtains from where dragons entered and left with meals covered by a silver dome, the meals dousing her in fresh scents of deliciously prepared meals and a cool wind blowing through tunnels in the restaurants ceiling.
On the menu there was an option for an all you can eat buffet as a celebration of some kind, this seemingly a very lucky day to wander in. Besides that were some regular pony meals and special dragon meals to choose from, unsurprisingly either containing meat or gems.
So many delicious things were hinted at in the menu, this place most definitely specialising in meat, and what delicious smelling meat it was. The waiters seemed to thread between tables on purpose, carrying huge silver trays that wafted the enticing scent of spices and meat, melded into a luxurious and no doubt sumptuous dish. She almost got up and followed one heading to a nearby table full of eager zebras. The promise of an all you could eat meal was one that her licking her lips and prodding her totally empty stomach. Enough meat and she wouldn't have to eat for weeks.
Just out of sight however and deep in the darker, unlit corner of the cave was another opening covered by curtains that weren't entirely shut and as the breeze blew through a little more causing it to become more visible. In the darkness could be made out a draconic shape that wandered by pulling a moving sac by a rope, the suspicious activity well hidden in the darkness.
