Chapter #4

The Noblest of Quarters.

    by: Cainiam Author IconMail Icon
It's a short walk for the pair of you to the Noble Quarter, it being the closest district to the castle of course. You quickly passed a few of the grand and stately homes, broken up only by fancy boutiques and cafes. In no time at all you were at the huge fountain that marked the entrance to this rather large area. This piece was commissioned by Blueblood, if the fact a statue of the stallion himself stood triumphantly at the top wasn't a dead giveaway. Supposedly it was to commemorate the defeat of the Changelings in their attempted invasion during the Royal Wedding, yet no accounts actually even put Blueblood in the castle at the time, yet the statue suggested he had commanded battlements in some kind of protracted siege, water firing in jets from carved marble cannons down and into the fountain itself which was full of twisted equine looking figures.

"Look at him... he's such a hero," Camo said wistfully, staring up at the stone statue of the illustrious prince.

Lance blinked once, then twice, before clearing out his ears. "Sorry, could you repeat that, I could have sworn you called Blueblood heroic," the stallion replied with a glance of disbelief.

"Look at this statue and tell me he does not look heroic," Camo was quick to respond, gesturing up at the magnificent figure that Lance just realised was supposed to be crying crystalised tears that were suspended in air by magic.

Lance looked at the statue, then back to Camo, then back to the statue again. "Do you even remember the Canterlot Invasion?" he asked, the look of incredulity etched all over his face.

Camo's response was chiefly a shrug, but Lance's continued look earned some words after a few seconds. "Well... uh... not really... no... I kind of... hid..."

Lance's let out another sigh and then followed up with a shake of his head. "So... moving on... we can't just stand around the Freedom Fountain all day."

"Why not? It's got good, clear views and junk," Camo replied quickly.

Lance was beginning to think he may have chosen a partner too quickly. "Because then we're not patrolling, Camo. We have our route. Both start and end here actually, so it's just which way you want to take first. We go to the right and we'll pass the huge Vorare Estate first, or we stick to the left and through the Faust Memorial Guardians?"

Camo huffed loudly, looking between the two and then shrugging. "Either way we'll walk past them both anyway," he pointed out. "You pick, Lance."
