Straining his ears Lance could make out the sounds of something going on at the Estate. Music bled through the air and the sounds of refined joviality could only mean one thing... and that was to stay away. "Let's head out to the left. Gardens are most beautiful in the morning," Lance stated, gesturing with his head in the stated direction.
Camo's response was a simple shrug. As soon as Lance started trotting, so too did Camo, the stallion sticking to Lance's side. Their golden armour reflected the light of the sun as they trotted side by side down the paved street. "So you been to the gardens before?" Camo asked.
Lance had been liking the silence, but gave a sidewards glance with an emerald eye as Camo opened his muzzle. "Once or twice... though only to the publicly available part. There's a large field of flowers that is popular for picnics and other outdoors activities. We're being tasked to patrol the whole grounds though, give them a one over for any signs of ponies where they shouldn't be," Lance explained as the pair's hooves clipped and clopped against the ground.
A spiked and tall fence of golden metal came into view soon enough, marking the edge of the park and breaking up the endless rows of fancy townhouses. A bit further along lay the large and impressive gate, it wide open for public entry. Golden letters stenciled above proudly proclaimed this was indeed the one and only 'Faust Memorial Gardens'. "How about you?" Lance asked, turning to Camo. "First time here?" Camo nodded his head with an affirmative, and Lance grinned. "Then follow me."
Beyond the gate a smoothed out gravel path led the way forwards, and almost instantly the grass gave way to a sea of flowers. All kinds of brilliant and vibrant colours created a mesmerising rainbow of floral decoration, the plants put down in clear grids of solid colour blocks. Between each a marble statue of an alicorn was placed, all the way down to a central plaza, where an even grander statue of shaped gold tried to capture the glory of the supposed mother of equinity. Camo let out a loud whistle as he approached. "That can't have been cheap..." he stated, his vision filled by the golden statue.
Lance rolled his eyes as Camo acted like a colt. The plaza had a few ponies around, though none seemed to be the type of noble they were trying to avoid. Beneath the statue was unbroken grass, and beyond that stretched the large and famous field of flowers that went on for a mile at least. Several wooden benches provided places to sit, some also featuring tables for the picnickers.
Camo spotted the sign first and trotted over to it, stopping in front and looking up. "So all these places need to be patrolled?" Camo asked, looking back to Lance.
The other guardstallion trotted over to quickly double check and then gave Camo a nod. "Yep. We've got the exotic flora greenhouses, most of them off limits to any but staff or researchers from the Canterlot Academy. Those are to the East. On the West side we've got the largest hedge maze in Equestria... though we probably don't have to actually enter it. And of course up ahead is the sea of flowers. Question though is which to hit first...?"
