Chapter #2

"Come on, where is she?"

Up in the sky lounge of the dome car, the ceiling warped up in a glass cage that separated the vast night sky from the maroon couchware inside the carriage, lit only by a strip of lights along the black carpet to let the boundless stars shine in full. The job looked easy enough, with only a few guests still up and lounging around, but it'd have looked a hell of a lot easier if Dana was anywhere to be seen. Three runthroughs of the cars came up with no sign of the giant bird anywhere, each one filling my mind with more images of the extension cords she could've tripped over along the way, or all the windows she could've tumbled out of.

It took ten minutes of watching the door and waiting for it to open for me to give up. I'll have to call Miss Carmine up on thi-

...and then the door opened.

Down the aisle, I could actually see and hear a few of the guests go silent as I was cast right in the center of a deep shadow that poured in through the opened doorway, a resounding boom shaking through the floor that made me nearly lose my footing as I turned around to look. But a few feet away, a shapely, leviathanic mass of blubber and muscle pushed its way into the car along the floor, standing high over my head like some spheric monolith that'd fallen from the heavens, its lower half covered by a soft coat of feathers whilst the upper was still covered by a clean purple jacket whose sole intact button strangled as it held the suit together around an immense pair of breasts. Dana's already immense legs were clenched up as their throughs of muscle supported the weight of her belly, but they still struggled to navigate around its underside, transforming her pace into some kind of an overexerted swagger.

However, beneath the cheerful colors of her uniform, her face was a stony grimace whose feathers were stained by three scars slashed along her right eye, one reaching enough to put a tiny scratch in her beak. Gazing down at the spot where I stood, she carefully leaned forward on top of her stomach, her golden eyes narrowing further with an acidic twinge that deepened the more she zoomed in on my lanky, twiggy figure...

"Hey, Dana."

...before smiling. "Hey, Nathan. What's up?"

"Just what we'd been called up for. You?"

"Heh...a lot." She rolled back at full height, walking past me. "Sorry about being late, by the way. I'd lost my glasses, again..."

"How'd it happen this time?"

Her shoulders fell. "Me being their owner, that's what."

"Oh...listen, I'm sorry."

"Mm, that's life." She jammed her fingers into her pocket, pulling out her stud scanner. "Scanner ready?"

"Yep!" I answered, pulling out my own.

"Alright...let's go."
