"Excuse us for a moment." She said and too her daughter tight by the wrist and dragged her out of the room. After that upstairs to her room. Mary had trouble keeping up with her mother.
"Well that was great!" Her mother said sarcastic. "Mary what just happened."
"Mary looked at her with a face as red as a tomato. She did't knew exactly what to say. Her eyes were starting to get watery when she realized what the people had said. It was really hurtful. Everything had gone perfect. People saw her like perfect. The perfect daughter that everyone wanted. At least until…
She looked down at her big belly. It ripped her corset. She did't know she stuffed herself so much that her corset could't take it.
"Mary do you realize how much you embarrassed me, us. Now everyone is gonna see me as the mother with a daughter that looks like a overfed pig. Do you realize how ashamed we are now?"
Mary looked with watery eyes at her mother. She felt so embarrassed and humiliated but it did't seem like her mother was trying to comfort her. It seemed more like she was angry at her.
"But I... but I... I did't want to . I just had a few snacks and suddenly… well my belly ripped through. I'm sorry."
"Hmmm." Mumbled her mother. "It seems like you're really sorry. So now lets get you a new corset. One that does't rip after you have eaten half of all the food on the party."
"I really did't mean to mommy. I don't know how this happened."
"I know how this happened! Because you're too fat! It's because of your gluttony. That's one of the seven sins remember."
"Yes mother I know. Gluttony, sloth, greed, envy, pride, wrath and lust. Watch out for them. Wait… you're looking for another corset? Why?"
"Well for you of course. So you can continue the party."
"What? I can't go back down there. You heard all the mean things they said about me. Now they know I only look so good thanks to my corset."
"So what? Most woman there wear a corset. Only they don't eat so much it breaks. Some wear wigs. Or do really think that's their own hair? No way. But if you don't go back they have won. I'll show them our daughter can go back with her head high! No matter what has happened."
