Ben lifts the queen that is almost as tall as him and moves it across the board. The queen is heavy, made out of solid marble. To Ben, it feels like he's lifting a recliner. He doesn't take any pieces.
Jason takes a pawn. Ben is down to five inches. Ben tries to move his rook but it's too heavy for him.
"Could you give me some help?"
Jason lifts the rook. "Where do you want it?"
Ben moves to the square. "Right here."
"You're going to checkmate me and end the game."
"And get all my height back."
Jason hesitates then places the rook, ending the game. "You win again."
Ben gets six inches back ending the game at eleven inches tall. "Hey, I won. Why am I still small?"
"I told you, you only get height back if you take pieces from me. The king is only worth six inches."
"You've stacked the game against me. There's no way to win my height back."
"There is a way, if you go after my pieces without letting me take any of yours. Are you smart enough for the challenge?"
"That is one hefty challenge. Even geniuses have to sacrifice pieces to win. You plan on keeping me tiny. Why?"
"I don't plan on keeping you tiny but I did learn of a chess tournament coming up where my playing style is encouraged. They are the ones who gave me this chess set. They have different kinds of games all of which penalize one or both players that lose a piece. In their games, geniuses lose to keep from sacrificing pieces. I needed one more piece to complete my own chess set to be allowed in the tournament. So would you be my king?"
