Shawn was nonchalant as he carried the dress home
safely wrapped in plastic. As he neared his house, however,
his anxiety grew at the prospect of again facing his
mother. When he arrived home she was bustling around the
house doing some odd thing. She stopped when she saw him.
"So you're back lady Jane," she teased, "how was your
trip to the cleaners?"
"Okay I guess,"he mumbled.
"Well you're not out of the woods yet missy, not by a
long shot."
"I said I was sorry. I won't do it again!"
"I don't believe you," she spat, "I think you need to
be taught a lesson. Now you go take a shower and I'll be up
in a few minutes."
Shawn climbed wearily up the stairs. What was she
going to do? Knowing his mom this wasn't going to be
pleasant.
Ten minutes later he was showering when his mom entered
the bathroom. She didn't say a word but just gathered up
some laundry and left. After he finished bathing and
towelled off he discovered that his pants and shirt were
missing. Mom must be doing laundry, he thought. He wrapped
the towel aroung his waist and headed for his room.
