Panicking, he scrambled to the mirror, and the reflection that stared back was inconceivable—a girl, with long, flowing hair and delicate features. She blinked back at him, wide-eyed and bewildered. Jack's heart raced; in that moment, he couldn't deny the truth. The magic coin had granted his wish, but not in the way he’d ever wanted. He had transformed overnight into a stunning young woman.
“Seriously, what the hell?!” Jack—no, she—yelled, clutching at her face and tugging at her hair. It felt foreign, lovely yet utterly terrifying. The changes were fascinating; her new body had curves in places that he had never dreamed of. But, this was wrong—so wrong. How was he supposed to go through life like this?
Taking a breath to steady herself, Jack—now Julie—tried to piece together her thoughts. Her best friends, Craig and Scott—we should probably call them now. **They’d know what to do.** They had been with her for the entire night, egging her on at the pub to make foolish statements about girls and magic. A twist of fate had landed her in a situation unlike any she had ever imagined.
“Okay, okay… let’s just figure this out,” she muttered, forcing herself to stay calm as she grabbed the phone from her bedside table, trembling fingers dialing Craig’s number.
“Hello?” Craig's voice crackled through the line.
“Uh, hey, it’s Julie,” she said, trying to control her nerves. It felt so odd, using a name that felt both foreign and oddly fitting. “We need to talk. Like, right now.”
“Julie? You sound kinda weird. What’s going on?”
“I’m serious—get Scott and come over!”
After hanging up, she stared at her reflection again, cheeks flushed with embarrassment. **What happened last night?** All she could recall was their drunken banter about a magic coin that Jack had said he found. Would this be permanent? The possibilities spun in her mind, swirling like the colorful sequins on her new blouse.
