This story takes place on an alternate Earth. Many things are the same but some are much different...
Prologue
Cryptic Cove was a prestigious boarding school in the isolated forests of the United Americas. Very few people knew it existed though it did not take great wealth to attend this school, just a skill or talent of notable worth. Rumors throughout the school, which started as a senor prank, suggested that those with incredible talents or skills seemed to disappear, never to be seen again...
Jenny Query was a senior student and had been offered to stay on as a teacher after graduation due to her ability solve any problem regardless of how cryptic or complex. She took pride in the ability to get answers to questions that had stumped even some of the most experienced professors. Little did she know her greatest challenge would be a question only she could answer for herself.
"Did you see the new girl?" Asked one teenage boy within Jenny's earshot. "She's the very first secondary school student to be accepted here."
"Yeah, I see her once and a while." Smiling, a teenage girl replied. "She's cute little thing, very shy though."
"My question is where does she disappear to?" Shaking his head, the boy remarked. "One minute, she's attending a class and the next, she's gone."
"I noticed that too." Worry in her voice, the girl replied. "It's a real mystery and no one has yet to solve it in the whole six weeks she's been here."
Jenny was intrigued. She had seen the cute little girl the two were talking about but really had not paid any attention to her. Her name was Hannah Hanson, a petite ten year old with long brown hair and green eyes. She rarely talked to anyone and when she did talk, she only said what was necessary, nothing more.
"Think I had just found my new challenge." Smiling, she thought.
Just as she began to calculate how to solve her latest mystery, she saw the petite girl reluctantly enter the boys locker room. Being a senior prefect, Jenny had the right to enter the locker room though she normally had to call it in first. This time, she did not call in as the locker room was supposed to be empty at this time of the afternoon.
"Why would she go in there, I wonder." Whispering, she muttered.
As she figured, the locker room was completely empty other than Hannah who began to remove her uniform in front of an open locker. jenny blushed slightly as Hannah stripped down to the nude then let out a sigh. "Time to switch, I guess." Softly, she squeaked.
There was a glow and Jenny watched wide eyed as the girl transformed into a ten year old boy right before her eyes! The change was quick, less than a minute, but she could see every detail of the transformation. The boy sighed, looking sad. "I'll never get used to this." Tearfully, he whispered. "What did I do to be..."
