Apple Bloom's stomach chose that moment to let out a rumble which shook the ground. "Hehe, guess we better find some food," she blushed.
"Well there IS food all around us," Scootaloo said as she took a bite of an apple tree. Her teeth sheared through bark and branches easily, and she smiled as she chewed and swallowed. "The wood tastes pretty good actually."
"Hey, those are mah family's trees Scoots! Ya can't just eat 'em like that."
"I'm hungry, and at this size what are they gonna do?" Scootaloo asked as she took another bite, swallowing down most of the top of the tree. "Just take one bit AB, and tell me it's not the best thing you've ever tasted. Sweetie's got the right idea."
"What?" Apple Boom turned and saw Sweetie swallowing down the last of a tree's roots. "Sweetie, not you too!"
"She's right Apple Bloom, eating a whole tree is amazing. It tastes so good! Just give it a try."
The earth pony's tummy rumbled again. "Well, maybe just one bite," she said. Leaning in, she bit off about half of a tree top and chewed. Immediately flavors exploded in her mouth, only growing more intense as she chewed. "Wow, that's great!" She smiled. "But ma family depends on these trees. If we eat 'em all we could lose the farm."
"You've got a point Apple Bloom," Sweetie said. "How about we finish the trees we're eating, and then go somewhere else and look for food?"
