Chapter #6

Plum Kitaki

It was a quiet day at the Wright Anything Office, and it was welcome as Apollo lazily spun around in his chair. Just a week ago, he had scraped through what had been the most stressful case of his life. Not only did his defendant almost die, but he only managed to scrape through due to the newly introduced Jury system. Apollo had the feeling that it'd be a while before Juries were truly implemented in the courts, so he doubted that he'd get off so lucky again. He appreciated the break while he had it. He realized he would likely need a new edge soon if he wanted to keep up in future cases.

He was stirred by a buzz at the door. He got up from his cramped office and stumbled his way to the front door, maneuvering around Trucy's scattered things. "She's going to need to learn how to share office space," Apollo said a bit bitterly as he reached the door. Upon opening it, he found no one was there, but instead a small package, addressed to him.

"Don't recall ordering anything," he muttered as he took it to the coffee table and opened it up. Inside he found a curious remote with only two buttons, and an instruction manual. "Switching bodies? That's just ridiculous." It was something out of a bad movie, but it'd be awfully convenient if he could switch bodies. A lot of problems would be solved if he could investigate a crime scene under the guise of a new identity, after all.

*knock knock* Apollo suddenly found his thoughts interrupted by a knock at the door. Grumbling, he got back up and kicked his way through Trucy's things again, opening it up to find the large frame of Plum Kitaki, the mother of a past client. She seemed rather upset.

"Mrs. Kitaki? What's wrong?"

"Mr. Justice, I'm very glad you're here! Its my son, you see." Apollo had feared this, and let out an exhausted sigh. "Please, just hear me out. They arrested him for a robbery, but I know he didn't do it. He's a good boy; the family is getting out of such business."

"I believe you Mrs. Kitaki," Apollo said a bit nervously, "but your son is just... a hard client to work with. He's not very keen on talking to attorneys."

"There must be something you can do, you helped him once. Please, just talk to him; neither me nor my husband have any legal experience. We can't investigate on our own."

Apollo took a deep breath and thought about it. His eyes flickered over the remote. 'Wocky would probably be more forthcoming with his mother than me.' Being Plum would be rather... unpleasant, but Apollo doubted it would work anyways. If it did... well it wouldn't be for long, right? "I might have something that would make investigating easier," Apollo admitted.

Plum brightened up, "I knew you'd have something! What is it then?"

Apollo went over and picked up the remote. "We'll find out in a second," he said as he closed his eyes and pressed one of the buttons. Did he click aware swap as meant too, or unaware?
