Chapter #7Myriam Scutlebutt by: Reset   As Apollo pondered the device, he scanned the junk in the room an noticed something out of place.
"I don't recall ordering a television..." he muttered as a cardboard box rumbled in the corner of the room. His face contorted into a frown - he was pretty sure he knew who this was.
"Well! It's probably nothing," he said loudly as he sauntered over to that side of the room and sat down on the box. The box began to shake more, but Apollo didn't budge. Eventually, he could hear grunting as the figure underneath the box began to cry out.
"Get off!" A distinctly female voice shouted.
"Oh!" Apollo shouted sarcastically as he got up. "I'm sorry about that Myriam - didn't notice you there at all."
"Well of course you didn't," Myriam declared as she got up, box still covering her torso. "Not with my new box! TVs are always in demand, no one would consider such a box out of place."
Apollo just gave an exasperated sigh. "What are you doing here Myriam? You don't need a lawyer, do you?"
"No! I'm here investigating," she announced. "I want to know all about the new Wright Law office! Mr. Wright is a bit of a legend among attorneys; his return to the field with the UR-1 case is big news. I'd be a fool to ignore the chance to get a scoop on the new Wright Law Office!"
Apollo just stared at her blankly. "You already had the connection via Juniper, you could have just asked for an interview."
Myriam was quiet for a moment. That thought hadn't occurred to her apparently. "...can I get an interview with Mr. Wright?"
"No," Apollo responded, "he's not in right now."
"Well what about Ms. Cykes!" she asked again.
"Still no," Apollo answered, "she's also out at the moment."
"Well what about you, Mr. Justice!" she asked. "You're Mr. Wright's protege, that's like, pretty close to getting an interview with him. Pleeeeeease?"
Apollo stopped and thought about it. Well... she's sort of an arbitrary choice, Apollo realized as he fiddled the device around in his hand. I suppose that means there's no consequence if it doesn't work atleast. Apollo turned his attention back to Myriam and asked "how about something more than an interview. What would you say if I could give you a true, in-depth, undercover look at the office?"
Myriam became so excited she threw her box into the air, briefly revealing her face. "Really?!" she shouted, her voice clear for a moment before the box fell back over her body. "You would do that for me?!" She didn't even seem to notice the box's little adventure.
"Yup, just hold still," he said as he lifted the remote and clicked one of the buttons.   indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
