Deep down Brandon knew that taking over someone else's body would be wrong, but he was so tired of not being taken seriously. He was 14 for crying out loud! He felt old enough to be treated like he knew what was best for himself, but his older brother's always rolled their eyes and joked with him and his father kept telling him he wasn't old enough yet to be in charge of certain things or to know what was best for himself.
That day in particular pushed Brandon past his breaking point:
Jake was an asshole and wouldn't drive Brandon to the meeting for early interest in signing up for football, even though Smith and their Dad were out. Jake was the only one who could have driven Brandon, but Brandon ended up having to take his bike instead.
Smith was visiting while he had some time off from the marines, but all he wanted to do was tell Brandon everything that was wrong about his football throwing technique. He wouldn't even agree to buy Brandon some booze so Brandon could bring it to his friend Cam's party and look super cool.
His father had told him that he couldn't get the newest Nike sneakers, even if he were to use his own money. Brandon had a checking account (with his father's name on it also since Brandon was 14) where he deposited all of his birthday money, Christmas checks, and odd job earnings, but his father never let him touch a cent of it. He told Brandon that he would be glad to have a nice pile of cash for when he really needed it, but Brandon knew in his mind that one pair of shoes wouldn't be the end of the world.
Brandon knew that the only way to be respected and taken seriously was to take it for himself. Who does Brandon takeover in his fit of frustration?
