"Then if you won't leave. I shall change you instead. Then you might stand a chance on this Island!" Suicune exclaimed as she glowed faintly blue. She called upon the spark of power Ho-Oh had left within herself after her reincarnation. She concentrated that energy in the center of her crest before unleashing it at Zach.
Zach pleaded, "What are you doing?"
He heard the faint, hurried steps of a pokemon. In the next moment, the pokemon, a blue chameleon-like creature, jumped between Zach and the incoming energy. The pokemon winked at Zach, and gave a very familiar crooked smile.
"Damon..." Zach knew, without a doubt, that this pokemon that attempted to intervene was his brother. "No its dangerous!" Zach exclaimed as he wrapped his arms around the little pokemon. They were both enveloped in the mystical energy.
Zach collapsed onto the ground with the chameleon in his arms, both of their bodies beginning to shift and contort. He rolled onto his back and the small pokemon remained attached to his chest. His body seemed to shrink just as his skin began taking a blue-ish tent. Zach raised his hands in front of his face, and watches as his four fingers became webbed together and gained a greenish-pigment. A loud snap echoed around him, and immediately his right hand dropped to his side. Zach tried to ask what was happening, but he had difficulty forming the words. His tongue felt absurdly long as it lazily sloshed around in his mouth.
Suicune walked into Zach's vision. She sighed heavily, "My gift is only meant for one being, not two. But given that you rushed to each other's aid without regard for your own safety... I suppose that brotherly bond is what will allow you to thrive; it will have to." Suicune then left, leaving Zach with many questions.
"Z-Zach..." a familiar voice spoke from beside him.
Zach turned his head to see the face of the chameleon pokemon, though it had changed, evolved. Purple hair seemed to be covering the right eye now. But, he knew that it was his brother. "Damon!" Tears began to well up in his eyes. "I knew you were alive! I just knew it!" he wrapped his arm around his brother.
"I missed you so much Zach..." Damon cried as he too wrapped an arm around his younger brother.
A few moments later, Zach's brain processed the weirdness of their reunion. His left hand felt like it was touching the shoulder of someone else, but his arm seemed to be wrapped around his own body. His own body felt weird, in addition to the sudden changes into some kind of pokemon. He felt cut in half. Suicune's words repeated in his mind, 'My gift is only meant for one being, not two.' Zach let go of his brother's shoulder. "Damon are we..."
"Yeah... we're a lot closer than we've ever been. We'll have a lot of time to reconnect now..." Damon's trademark smirk returned but it did little to alleviate Zach's worry.
Zach took count of his body. He felt one arm and one mitten-like hand. He still had separate fingers, but the webbing made them move essentially as one digit. He counted one leg with two elongated toes. Both of those limbs were only on the left side. He pressed his webbed hand into what used to be his chest, and felt sensation disappear about half-way across it.
Damon spoke again, "I know its a lot, and I know you wouldn't want it sugar coated. Suicuine can reincarnate people into Pokemon; at least that is what I have come to realize over the last few years. She can only do one at a time, and the transformation puts a great strain on her power. Since we were too close... we were both enveloped by her power, turning us essentially into one pokemon."
"Oh no! I grabbed a hold of you. Its my fault..." Damon started.
"No! Its not!" Damon interrupted. "Its my fault... I was trying to save you from the transformation; she did the same thing to me about three years ago. But... I reacted too slow and was not able to intercept the energy wave far enough away from you. Even if you hadn't grabbed a hold of me, we both would have been effected anyways. Sorry..."
"I guess blame does not really matter now." He gave a small smile. "At least we're both alive."
"Yeah, and I think we should take Suicune's last words to heart; they are what seem to matter the most. '...that brotherly bond is what will allow you to thrive...'" Damon recited the last of the legendary beast's words, leaving at the part about their bond having to be enough to thrive. "We're the inseparable Drizzile brothers!"
"Drizzile?" Zach questioned.
"Yeah, I was Sobble, a pokemon from the Galar region, but we're Drizziles now, the evolved form. I guess our fusion helped us evolve, combining our strengths maybe." Damon explained. "But the down side is, we're going to have to figure out how to move, fight, and live as... essentially one pokemon."
"You seem to know a lot about this..." Zach stated.
"Well, I have been helping out a pair of friends who are in the same situation as us. I was out collecting food when I noticed a trainer confronting Entei. He unleashed the same ability, but then out of the blue another trainer popped out of the bushes to intervene. They ended up fused together as the same pokemon, a Combusken."
"There are more people-turned-pokemon on the island?!"
"Yeah, we've made a small village of sorts." He paused for a moment. "We'll just have to walk their on... our two feet."
