This choice: Lotta moves Maya and Phoenix to a safer spot, for starters. • Go Back... "Well, c'mon up!"
Lotta picked Maya up as well, earning a startled squeak from the shrunken medium. Dropping Maya next to Phoenix in her palm, she stood upright, taking another look around her small apartment.
"... Sorry 'bout all the mess in here." she said. "I don't get a lot of company..."
She moved, using her free hand to clear up a bit of space on the table where she'd found them. Something crashed to the floor, making Maya jump.
Lotta peered over the table for a moment, then grinned.
"Wasn't nothin' expensive!" she said, relieved.
She found a small pillow, and tossed it into the middle of the table. Without warning, her palm suddenly tipped. Maya yelled in alarm, tumbling downward along with Phoenix, landing on the pillow.
"Now, just wait right there a minute." Lotta said. "I've still got to sort summa this stuff out."
Maya rolled into a sitting position.
"Why'd she bother picking me up, then...?" she groaned.
"Maybe it was just fun?" Phoenix suggested. "It's Lotta, Maya, she's weird."
"Yeah, maybe..."
The pair waited while Lotta attempted to sort away her various photography equipment. The apartment was a complete disaster area, no matter what, but eventually, she seemed satisfied with her work. At least she appeared to know where she liked to keep things.
When she stepped toward them again, she raised a camera, and before either could protest, she'd snapped a photo of them.
"Gotta make sure I get a good shot of you two right away!" she said. "Findin' people as tiny as you in my apartment's gonna be one heck of a scoop!"
"Uhh..." Phoenix waved a hand, and Lotta looked at him. "Would you mind not rushing out to tell everyone you can...?" he asked. "We don't really need half the city finding out what's happened to us right now."
Lotta's smile faded a bit.
"Aw... y'know, y'all can be a real buzzkill, Phoenix..."
He sighed.
"You can keep the photo." he said. "Maybe just find somewhere to stick it up in here?"
"... Well, that's somethin', anyway..." Lotta replied, pouting. After a moment, she looked up again. "So, what'd y'all want me to do?" she asked. "Yer both pretty darn small, so should I just carry y'all 'round with me 'til we figure out how to get ya back to normal?"
Phoenix realized that he hadn't really thought that far. What exactly were they supposed to do now? Could Lotta get them back to their office? indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
