"There's... well, there's really not a whole lot I can explain." Phoenix said, one hand brushing through his hair spikes. "Things were pretty normal this morning until..." He sighed, thinking back. "There was this reddish flash out of nowhere at one point. It was hard to see anything for a few seconds, and then the whole office went dark."
"That was when we appeared in here." Athena added, gesturing over her shoulder and toward the diminished office out on the floor.
Trucy and Apollo offered nods of affirmation.

Edgeworth glanced between the group on the desk and the office still on his floor, shaking his head slowly.
He had more questions than he cared to count, but if that was all anyone down on his desk could remember, it seemed as if he wasn't going to get many answers.
"Wright," he began, determined to find some sort of clarity, "Think harder -- is there anything out of the ordinary that you remember from earlier today? Anything at all?"
Phoenix could be heard sighing.
"... Actually, yes." he said after a few seconds. "I'd almost forgotten about it -- there was a letter in with the mail this morning. It didn't have a sender's name on it. I was just opening it when... when that flash happened."
He looked upward.
"D'you think that could've had anything to do with it?"
Edgeworth thought it over.
"It's hard to say. That does sound rather unusual, but it's not much of an explanation. Do you still have that letter?"
"I... I guess I must've dropped it." Phoenix replied. "It should still be inside the office."
"Hey!" Trucy piped up, drawing the attention to her. "Uncle Edgeworth -- give us a ride back so we can find it!"
Edgeworth frowned.
"Your office isn't in very good shape, Trucy." he replied. "I don't feel especially confident about letting any of you go back inside."
"Well, we aren't gonna be able to do anything about that letter from here!" Trucy protested. "C'mon, we'll be quick!"
Closing his eyes, Edgeworth made a decision.
"... Alright, but only one of you. The less people you have moving around in there, the safer it should be." he said.
"I'll go, then." Phoenix said, stepping forward. "It's more important for all of you to stay safe, and I think I remember where I was standing when I dropped it."
Phoenix's three companions on the desk gave him looks of uncertainty, but they didn't protest.
Rising from his chair, Edgeworth offered Phoenix his palm to give him a lift.

"OK, I can jump from here..." Phoenix said nervously. Edgeworth held his hand very still, and the diminished defence lawyer hopped from his palm and into the gap in the office's damaged wall. He staggered on the rubble, but kept his footing.
Tentatively, Edgeworth braced a hand against the unstable wall, just in case.
Phoenix moved into the office's interior, his gaze tracing over the rubble scattered about.
"Was it there...? No... uhh..."
He wasn't certain, but he stopped on a particular spot. Stepping forward nervously, he approached.
"Aha!"
He'd found it. The letter's envelope was lying underneath a single splintered piece of wood, so the letter itself would be very close. He stooped, looking around in the partial darkness.
"... There." he said once he found his target. The letter was nearly buried in the rubble. Phoenix reached forward, only to freeze as he heard a loud splintering noise from above him. He looked up to see a rather frightening series of cracks all across the ceiling above him. He had definitely preferred his office when it was in its proper location and in one single piece.
"Wright," he heard from outside. "The second floor isn't going to hold. You need to get back out of there quickly."

Back on the desk, Apollo, Athena, and Trucy looked on anxiously. They couldn't really see what was happening, but the damage to their office was easy to spot, and it was hard to imagine that the interior was very safe at all.

Phoenix frowned, looking back down at the letter. If he took a moment to move some of this rubble, he could grab it. He shifted a broken wood fragment, still hearing frightening sounds from the ceiling above him.
