"You haven't changed your office much, have you, Mr. Edgeworth?"
"It's never been a priority of mine, no."
Edgeworth was seated at his desk in his office high up in the Prosecutors' Office building, currently receiving a visit from the cheerful Ema Skye, a girl of eighteen who was back in LA for a week during a break from her schooling in Europe.
Ema, standing with one hand pressed to her hip and the other holding the strap of the bag hanging from her shoulder, examined the office with a smile.
She hadn't been here in a couple of years. The last time was when she and Mr. Wright had been investigating a detective's murder, of which her older sister had been accused.
She was staying in a hotel not too far from the Prosecutors' Office, which was paid for by her relatives overseas, and had decided to drop in to visit Edgeworth, as he was free of any cases or investigations at the moment.
Edgeworth, it turned out, was still quite awful at small talk.
"So, my classes are going well," Ema said, approaching his desk. Actually, I've got a letter from one of my professors in my bag somewhere..." She fumbled with the bag for a moment. It was a mess in there. Not having much luck, she sighed and slipped the bag off her shoulder to set it down on the desktop.
"It's here somewhere..."
Edgeworth, seated with his usual cup of tea, leaned forward a bit.
Just then, Ema squeaked in surprise, pulling her hand free of the bag. Edgeworth was about to inquire on her reaction when he heard a hissing noise. A jet of some unidentified mist burst out of the bag, directly into his face. He coughed, quickly setting down his tea cup.
"Mr. Edgeworth-!!" Ema yelped, rushing around the desk. If that was what she thought it was...
Her eyes widened. Indeed, it was.
Before her eyes, the normally calm and collected prosecutor was frantically looking around at his surroundings as his body began to rapidly dwindle in size.
Down and down he went, Ema watching in a panic all the while. She considered going for help, but she was too worried for Edgeworth's safety to try it.
Finally, the shrinking process stopped.
