Towering but decrepit Dwarven ruins
by: Unknown
The steam powered hatch groans shut behind you. Inside the ancient Dwemer ruin, the ambient noise of pistons and steam resonates all around. Though dimly lit, Avoni is able to make her way down several already looted corridors without trouble. A number of scarab corpses, already stripped of their inner workings, are testament to the previous adventurers' visit. A few footprints mark the floor, but their tracks are filled with dust, nobody has visited this place in quite a long time.
Reaching a fork in the tunnel system, Avoni turns left, only to find that pathway blocked by a pile of rubble and fallen metal pipes and beams. With a shrug, she turns back to the right and continues deeper into the clanking cave. Ahead there is a large square room, lit dimly(but more brightly than the preceding corridors) by a pit of exposed magma. A rusted Dwemer workbench stands against a wall, upon it Avoni can see several objects. Moving closer one is definitely a Dwemer puzzle cube, an interesting nick-knack but worthless in terms of resale value. On the other end of the bench is a small pile of cut gemstones, rubies, emeralds and even a diamond glitter in the red firelight.
As Avoni steps up to the bench she feels something on her left boot. Looking down she sees a puddle of glowing green ectoplasm. With a disgusted shake she manages to get most of the slime off her boot, but can't help but notice there are several more puddles on the floor around the bench. Looking at the piled gems, they too appear to have had a handful of the glop poured on top of them.
