Marc sighed as he turned into one of the ASL's massive elevators, his mood utterly resigned. He needed to get to one of the upper floors to reach is new mistress/boss/torturer/person-he-didn't-want-to-meet. He pressed the button for the 3rd floor when he noticed something. The button, which should have glowed green, was red. Marc had no clue what that was about. A glitch, maybe? Bad wiring? With little to lose, he pressed the button again.
This time, however, the button didn't just light red, the panel sparked with a small surge of electricity. Marc jumped back in surprise and jumped again when the elevator started moving. Only, it wasn't going up, it was moving downward. Marc watched with mounting dread and confusion as the display for the elevator went showed it descending to the basement. Marc had no clue what was down there as he had never had a reason to go. Sadly, he wasn't given any time to ponder any unknown dangers that lurked there as the elevator went further.
"What the hell...?" Marc breathed out, eyes wide.
There wasn't another level to the ASL or, at least, there wasn't another level below the basement as far at the young man knew. Yet, that wasn't stopping the elevator from continuing its descent downward.
Marc didn't know how long he was in the elevator, his confused and terrified state making every moment feel like a lifetime. He was in such a stupor that he barely noticed when the elevator stopped with a rumble before the doors flew open. Despite himself, Marc poked his head out of the elevator.
He was greeted with a long, hallway. It was sparse, devoid of any ornamentation or decadence that the ASL exuded from every surface. Large, bright lights lined the ceiling. The sheer lack of anything familiar made Marc's skin crawl. He looked back to the elevator's control panel and noted that it was still sparking.
'I doubt that'll work,' He thought. He weighed his options. He could venture out into...wherever he was at. Maybe he could find someone to help him or at least another elevator to get back to the main facility. But there was the possibility that he'd get himself lost. Just from what he'd seen, everywhere looked the same. Or he could wait until someone came to the elevator. Surely someone would want to use it, right?
