Mrs. Hemmingway never wanted to be a teacher. In fact, she never wanted a job where she had to work with children at all. Unfortunately, this was her backup plan if things didn't work out for her and surprise-surprise, they didn't. Now she was stuck essentially babysitting a whole bunch of kids that weren't even hers.
"If only my acting career took off." She grumbled under her breath as she walked down the school hallway. She should've been in Hollywood walking down the red carpet for a big premier with all eyes on her like in her dreams, not preparing herself to deal with a bunch of snot nosed brats that she didn't care for.
Before she could even reach her classroom however, things went from bad to worse for the disgruntled woman. Behind her back little Emily was aiming down the sights of the shrink ray and squeezing the trigger with all her might. The unaware teacher didn't even know what hit her before she was met with the sensation of falling.
"What the heck!" She cried out as the ground grew closer and closer. All she could do was brace herself with her hands before she collided hard with the tiled floor. The now pained woman groaned as she did her best to move and fortunately for her nothing was broken in the fall. "What on earth happened to me?"
That was the million-dollar question, wasn't it? Everything was so... big now. How was that even possible? Had she shrunk? She'd read stories about this sort of thing but never thought she would actually experience something like this herself. This was, well to be quite frank, fantastical... and not in a good way.
"Who turned out the sun?" She grumbled before rolling onto her back and letting out a hearty scream. One of those annoying twirps was standing right in front of her as tall as a fricking building. She really had shrunk and now she was basically toy-sized to one of these little monsters. "Get away from me!"
Emily couldn't help but marvel at what she'd just done and how small she'd made one of the teachers that works at the school. She recognized the woman as Mrs. Hemmingway but never actually spoke to her before. She just heard stories that the woman was popular for playing movies in class all the time. That and she smelled funny most days.
"Huh...?" Emily had been so lost in thought she almost didn't register that the tiny teacher was running away. She wouldn't get very far at her size and a part of her wondered if she should chase her down or not.
