The Rookie successfully escapes.

Even though the entire tower was padded, Rick could still hear the audible thump of a grenade landing nearby him. Without turning to look, he scrambled away, exposing himself momentarily as he dashed from one piece of cover to another, getting to a safe distance as the grenade explodes.
