This choice: Continue with this Character • Go Back... The rest of your watch passes uneventfully. Guraena hasn't said anything, but you also haven't heard her snoring so you figure she's paying at least some attention. You watch as the sun slowly sinks, the sky growing redder as it does. When the last of it vanishes behind the treeline, and the sky starts to look dusky, you stand up and stretch, your muscles stiff from sitting still all day.
"Alright Guraena, we're done," you call out to the platform above, and hear the Mightyena clambering to her feet. She slides down the ladder to land beside you, giving a stretch and a lazy yawn.
"You didn't see anything?" you ask, just to be sure. "Nope," she says before turning around and starting to undo the straps on her hard leather armor. "Hm. Well you'd better get some sleep. Looks like we're going hunting tomorrow." The Mightyena whips off her top and leggings right in front of you, exposing her completely nude body. "Whatever you say, boss," she replies unenthusiastically as she walks away, ass bared. Nothing new for her. You used to think she might be flirting with you, but since then you've witnessed her stripping out in public on multiple occasions. You turn back to look out the gate over the dusky plain. Just a while longer before your night watchman arrives. You idly hope that Guraena remembered to alert him before going off to bed.
"Alex." you hear the voice behind you, making you jump slightly. No matter how many times this happens he always catches you by surprise. You turn around to face the tall, 'dark' Zoroark, whom everyone knows as 'Fang.' He's got a name too, but much like you, the small community you live in had replaced it with a moniker. Not that he disapproved, by all appearances he enjoyed the somewhat flashy title he'd been given.
"No sign of the hunting party. Guraena and I are going out tomorrow so I'm going to have to ask you to run the day watch." You hate having to do this, but you're in quite a tight spot right now and everyone's going to end up working overtime. You trust that the Zoroark can handle 24 hours, he's done similar things in the past. He nods silently as a response.
"Good. I know I can count on you. If we make it out of this I owe you a dinner." Fang gives you a casual salute before walking by and taking your seat, leaning his rifle against the wall. It's similar to yours, but made of darker wood, and fitted with a scope made from a chunk of quartz crystal. Fastened to the Zoroark's waist is a long and thin curved sword in an ornate sheath. Unlike you, his slim frame fits into the small chair naturally. You leave him to his work, starting to shed bits of your own armor in preparation for sleep.
Despite his unwavering dedication, Fang is looked upon with a bit of skepticism in the public eye. Your guess is as good as anyone else's as to what makes the man tick, but he's been similarly stoic and reliable throughout your time here. He's your and Guraena's elder by a few years. He offered to take the night watch because he's 'naturally nocturnal,' he claims, sleeping through the day. Plenty of rumors go around that he gets up to unsanctioned activity during his solitary reign over the night, but you think they're all just made up to explain his abnormally calm temperament. Either way, nothing's gone wrong during any night watch he's run so far, so you don't concern yourself with the details.
You weave through the ramshackle houses of Tiron before reaching your own and settling in...  indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
