The Rottweiller turned to the fairy and began to bark. And bark. And Bark.
"Hush, Matilda!" the fairy responded.
The barking continued, mixed with growls and whines.
"Oh, for Merlin's sake! Fine! I'll change you back. Keep your tu-tu on." The fairly waved a wand, and more sparkles flew to the dog. In its place stood a pink sparkling fairy. Matilda held her arms out and looked down at herself.
"What, you're not advanced enough to undo two spells at once?" she taunted her sister, Helene.
"Naw, I think I'm going to leave you pink and sparkly for a while. Serves you right. You were supposed to rescue me, not the other way around. Instead, you got yourself caught as well."
"Uh, ladies...I don't mean to interrupt, but can we get back to the business at hand?" Steven asked, looking at one fairy and then the other. Steven couldn't help but wonder if they had been better off when one of the fairies had been a Rottweiller, even if it had been a pink, sparkly Rottweiller. He glanced at Laura, and realized that she was highly amused by the two sisters.
"Okay then, where should we head next?" Steven asked. His only answer was a terrifying roar coming from a distance to their right.
"Not that way, I think." Matilda piped up. Red Eyes is in his favorite sunning spot, but it doesn't seem to be making him very happy. I wonder what's up."
"Who's Red Eyes?" Laura asked.
"The Guardian Dragon. He is there to warn the other dragons when there is trouble from this part of the country," Helene explained. She exchanged a worried look with Matilda.
"Is that why we can't seem to find our way back to our village? There is something going on?" Laura was starting to panic again.
