"The creature's bright red eyes opened and honey dripped from its toothy mouth! Its fangs were as sharp as razor blades - the knight jumped back in terror, waving his sword about as the creature lumbered to its gigantic feet. It grabbed the knight like you might a chick from the pen and there he was - dangling from the fingers of this horrific being, thinking that he had finally met his doom...."
Laura moved in closer, not wanting to miss any details, "Then what?!" She almost shouted as her intrigue turned to excitement.
"The creature brought the knight up close to his face to enable him to inspect what he had found - as he peered down at the terrified knight, the warrior took his chance and swung for the monster's face with his sword! As luck would have it, he caught the creature right in the eye - the sword stuck fast in the thing's eyeball and as he cried out in pain, lifting his paws to his face, he instinctively let the knight fall - luckily on to a pile of hay. The knight wasted no time, and jumped to his feet, running without turning back. He ran and ran until he came to a village, whereupon he sank to his knees, crying a mixture of tears of fear and tears of joy that he had escaped."
"Where was the village?"
Steven started to speak but paused.
"Where was the village, Steven?"
"It was.......it........."
"Yes?"
"Laura" His voice was a whisper, "It was the village we just left......"
Suddenly there was a loud shriek followed by the sound of branches cracking and something crashing on the ground. Steven grabbed Laura and pulled them behind the back of the nearest tree trunk, shielding them with his cloak.
