This choice: Eric and Kim come up with a plan • Go Back...Chapter #7Eric and Kim come up with a plan by: Jezimoon   "Kim, I really need your help… Please." Eric said, out of breath as he had run all the way to his girlfriend's house.
Kim Weiss stood in the doorway to her house, wearing the school's volleyball uniform which consisted of a sleeveless sport top with a sports bra underneath and tight shorts. Her wavy blonde hair was pulled up into a ponytail and she was looking at Eric, her boyfriend, with concern.
"What's wrong honey? Did something happen? Do I need to call the police?" Kim pulled out her phone and got ready to start calling.
"No, the police won't help. This is beyond them. Is there somewhere we can talk that's… private?" Eric asked.
Kim nodded and brought Eric up into her bedroom, and locked the door. Her parents knew when the door was locked not to disturb her, especially when her boyfriend was visiting. Their daughter was a responsible 18 year old and they gave her a lot of free reign. Kim sat down on her bed, and pulled Eric over to sit next to her.
"So are you going to keep me in suspense? What's the deal with running all the way here and acting like you just saw a ghost?" Kim teased Eric.
Eric knew this would be hard for her to believe, and he didn't even have the ring to prove it to her. He'd have to get her to trust him somehow. Naturally she should trust her boyfriend, but what he weas about to tell her was completely off the wall…
"Ok so just bear with me. You're not going to believe this but… yesterday James found this… thing. It's basically a ring of some kind that fell from space or I don't know where it came from. There was a big storm and there was a flash of light and he found it in the crater in the park." Eric paused to see if she was already lost.
Kim stared blankly at him, and put her hand over her face, "A ring from space… ok? Pleeeeease tell me this isn't another one of your dorky roleplaying games?"
"No I'm serious, this really happened in real life! Just forget about how stupid it sounds. Alright so look. The ring told James it had some kind of magic power, that it could swap bodies around or some bullshit, I didn't believe him either. Then he tried it on me, and it didn't work. So we figured it was just a joke, and he gave it to Audrey."
He continued, "So today I go over there and there's this little girl that answers the door that looks just like James, but she's completely girly and 13 years old. And I see his little sister Audrey there and I swear to god she's like the same age as you and me. The little girl answered to 'Jamie' and Audrey says she completely changed James into a little girl, and stole his age. Now Audrey's the big sister…"
Kim stared at him for a second and then closed her eyes and flopped back on the bed, with her arms flailing out to each side. "Eric! What the fuck are you talking about?!" She yelled.
"Trust me! It's all true! I don't know what Audrey did but I know she used the ring, and she tried to change me too. I got out of there just in time." He insisted.
Kim knew that Eric was not the type of guy to believe in the supernatural, he didn't even like science fiction or the other dorky stuff that James was into. So if Eric was so sure of himself, then maybe he was telling the truth?
"Ok so what if this is really true? What then? What the hell am I supposed to do to help?"
"Well we've gotta get the ring back obviously. And I didn't want to do it alone, I needed a plan. And we need to get James back to normal somehow." Eric explained.
"So if we try to steal the ring wouldn't his sister just change us like she changed James? I mean… if this is for real of course." Kim asked.
Eric thought for a second. "Well… You've never met James's sister before right? Audrey has no idea you're my girlfriend. Right before I left she said now that she turned into an 18 year old she's going to college this year, so I assume that means she switched school roles with James. This means she's going to be taking James's classes most likely. If you can meet her at school and try to become friends with her, you could try and get close and find an opportunity to take the ring. Just act like she's a new student and you want to be friends with her. You're a popular girl so she will want to be on your good side if she wants to survive high school life."
"I suppose that could work… What about you? If she sees you she'll use this ring on you…" Kim asked, worried for his safety.
"I'll have to stay away from her at school, but I also want to try and track down James. He's probably going to her old middle school and I can't show up at his house or she'll be there for sure. If you can befriend her you can let me know when she's away from home so I can track down James."
Kim smiled, "Sounds like a plan!"
Kim still wasn't fully convinced any of this was real, but she trusted Eric enough to know that he was seriously worried about this, so she agreed to play along for now.   indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
