Robert didn't even hold it against his wife she would be making him carry the boy around for 9 months, it would be worth it, and it'd be a very special experience no other man had gotten before. With a smile shining as bright as the sun Robert said, "I'm ready to do this, I'm ready for a little boy." He went to grab the medallion but Clara had grabbed the medallion first. "I don't know, I think I should go first. Our oldest should be a girl I think. I imagine she'll end up being more level headed and responsible."
"Alas, with you as her mother our little girl will be a wild child. Our son should be the oldest to take on responsibilities of the household and take care of his younger siblings, no matter how many he has."
"Well I guess we'll have to settle this the old fashion way." Clara said flipping the medallion into the air. "We'll just have to become pregnant just minutes apart and let nature take its course. No magic manipulation outside of the gender or anything."
"You're proposing...a contest over who will give birth first?" Robert asked with a chuckle at the absord proposal.
"Why not? I am already your perfect woman, you said so in your wedding vows, I bet my womb is so fine tuned the baby will be ready in no time. Again, no magic needed. You always make yourself so perfect a woman I bet your baby boy will love your womb so much he'll stay there an extra week at least."
"Oh stop you're making me blush." Robert said with a smile and a hint of joking sarcasm. "So are you proposing a bet?"
"Exactly, whoever gives birth first wins. And the stakes are?" Clara said trying to think of something.
"Let's make it a gentleman's bet. $1 and the winner gets bragging rights over being the better pregnant woman." Robert said offering his hand.
"Deal." Clara said shaking her husbands hand before kissing him and slipping the medallion into his hand. "I'll even give you a few minutes head start to get yourself pregnant with the medallion. That's the only was we'll be able to do it. Just make sure you really alter your female DNA when you impregnant yourself, we don't want our children to be the product of self-cest...at least genetically."
"Will do," Robert said as he absorbed the medallion. First thing he did was shift his insides around and give himself a womb and filled it with he material needed to make a child, he could feel the genetic material combine and made sure to get the XY chromosomes set up. He was very glad both he and Clara had aced biology in school. And to make sure the child would have some genetic diversity he began to change himself. His skin went from a healthy pink to a pale white and freckles began to cover his body. His hair went from dark to a bright shade of red. He decided to go more modest than he usually did and gave himself some modest (for him) D cup breasts. After all he'd be carrying them around for at least 9 months. Once he was satisfied with his finished fine tuning his product the medallion dropped to the ground which Clara picked up instantly and absorbed herself. Robert couldn't see his wife change physically at all, but knew by the look of concentration on her face she was working hard to manipulate her insides to make herself pregnant. Finally Clara smiled and the medallion dropped. She picked it up and took it to a drawer, dropped it in and locked it.
"So neither of us get tempted and try to back out of this." Clara said and Robert nodded in agreement.
"But what if...oh no." Robert said slapping himself on the forehead. "We were so excited about the idea of little feet running around the house we didn't think of the animals or fields or anything. We can still work the land for now, but in a couple of months that won't be possible without us risking the health of our little ones." Robert said putting two hands on his belly as though he could already feel the just forming boy.
Clara closed her eyes in frustration, she had been so excited to have a little girl she had forgotten to take everything else into consideration. "I suppose it might be time we tell our family about the medallion. I'm sure our parents would be willing to help out once they knew some grandkids were finally on the way, they'd been bothering us about it enough."
"Yeah, but I kind of like keeping the medallion a secret from them. Besides I don't know if I want any of them knowing I'd be giving birth to their grandson."
Clara shrugged, "Fair enough, what if we hired a couple of strapping young men from the local college. I'm sure there are some poor student who'd be willing to work on the farm in exchange for use of the guest room for a year and some hot home made meals."
"That could work," Robert said thinking as he absentmindedly twirled his red hair with a long fingernail. "But do we really want a strong, I mean, strange young man we don't know living with us, we wouldn't be able to be ourselves."
"Well I could mostly be myself, you're the one who would have to act the part of a probably single pregnant woman." Clara pointed out.
Robert paced around the kitchen but looked up when he heard the whinny of a horse and a lightbulb went off. "You know, we always talk about how smart our animals seem to be, what if we tried to make them use the medallion. I'm sure they'd be willing to help us out if we could get them to turn into humans."
Clara's eyes lit up, "That would be interesting, but teaching an animal how to be human and help run things would be quite the challenge."
"Well we've got to do something and get some help somehow." Robert said going over his options in his head again. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
