Chapter #3
A male orderly, here to keep the inmates in line.
by: Unknown
You had no idea why Maria had chosen you as the target of her asinine jokes; there were much better targets to go for. While you wouldn't go and call yourself ugly you'd say you're at best a five, with a boxy build and soft unremarkable physique. Maybe it was just because you were new, only two weeks in. Maybe it was just because you happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. You suppose it no longer mattered, what mattered was getting your radio back. You chase the little brat through the library, Maria taking opportune moments to toss books in your face to slow you down. In all honesty that was unnecessary, she could probably lap circles around you if she wanted to. It was just more fun to make you struggle.
She ran out the library and made you chase her down one of the less frequented hallways. You huffed one last time and propped yourself against the wall, unable to continue the race. "What's the matter?" Maria asked sarcastically, only mildly winded. "Do you not want your radio back? Because I'm more than willing to keep it."
"I... hate... you..." You pant, trying your best to force yourself off the wall to continue the chase.
"Aw shucks, and I was going to ask you to join the Maria fan club! Now what am I going to do with your commemorative pins?" She teased before beginning to jog once more. You forced yourself after her and rounded a corner just seconds after she diiii-!!!
"What in the world..." You are now looking up at the floor, your arms dangling below you uselessly. It took you a while to realize that you were currently upside down hanging by your left foot. "Did... am I... where did you learn how to make a snare trap?!" You demand. They weren't allowed internet down here and no one here would teach them that sort of thing.
"You'd be surprised how much you could pick up from movies and games. Plus, having so much free time on your hands really leaves you with a lot of skill building opportunities." She remarks. "Why, do you like it?" Why did they even let these delinquents have nice nice things? Oh yeah, because when they're shoved in front of a screen they're not out causing mischief. Maria finished off her game by bringing your radio to her mouth and saying in her best impression of a gruff soldier "Mission control: target neutralized. Heading back to base!" and setting the radio down on the ground below you, just out of reach. She then strode off, cackling to herself as you were left helplessly dangling.
You don't know how long it was before someone found you. You had tried several times to bring yourself down but had no sharp objects to cut the rope, nor the dexterity to untie the knot. All of the blood had rushed to your head and your legs had long since fallen asleep when you hear someone striding up behind you. "Oh thank Christ someone is here! Hey, would you mind getting me down from here?" You ask your unseen savior.
"Wow, Maria has really outdone herself this time. That's a fine little contraption." The person said. Your heart sank, you recognized that voice. The person was...
