Chapter #3

Captured!

You're Jason Alvarez and you're not happy, not at all. Here you are, the rising star of your high school football teams offensive line and future hall of famer (in your own mind at least), and now these government stooges are here trying to drag you off to who knows where for who knows what nefarious purpose just because you happen to have super powers, specifically the ability to grow or shrink any creature or object or parts thereof, and/or increasing or decreasing it's mass and density virtually at will so long as you can see it and it's within fifty yards or so. The only catch being that the total mass of objects around you has to remain constant, meaning that if you shrink one thing, something else has to grow, or if you make one object more dense, some other object in your vicinity looses mass as a result.

"So let me get this straight. You're here from the government, wanting to make me part of some secret super powered hit squad, and you think I'm just going to go with you willingly?! Boy did you bozo's pick the wrong guy!" you replied in response to the information the man in black had just given you.

"Mr. Alvarez, please be reasonable, your country needs you. It's a well documented fact that the other major world powers are developing their own super soldier programs, and we need the aid of individuals like you to help counter the threat." The agent explained.

"Sorry bud, but I've learned in no uncertain terms that you never trust the government. This so called task force is probably just a way to keep people like me in line and out of sight so nobody realizes super powers are real. Besides, I have a life of my own to deal with, one that I happen to like, and if you think I'm going to cooperate and let you drag me off to whatever deep dark hole you're wanting to stick me in you've got another thing coming!" you replied, attempting to shut the door in their faces, only to be stopped by the foot of one of the agents.

Sighing, the agent says "I didn't want to do it like this kid, but you're coming with us whether you like it or not!" The agent makes a grab for you, which you narrowly evade, dashing back inside the apartment you share with your grandfather, your parents having perished during a plane crash several years ago.

Not intending to go down without a fight, you begin drawing mass to you, increasing your size, as well as your density, and consequently your resistance to unarmed strikes and bullets. Quickly you swell past seven feet, eight feet, nine feet, ten, your head brushing the ceiling even as the floor creaks beneath your weight, as you must be well over two tons by now.

Startled, the agents freeze for a moment as they weigh their options. Not wanting to give them the time needed to come up with a plan, you attack, your huge heavy fist slamming hard against... the wall, brink and plaster crumbling beneath your blow as the agent you'd been aiming at dodges nimbly aside. Howling in pain and clutching at your injured hand you turn and begin searching for your target, only to feel indescribable agony as the other agent shoves a taser into your back and pulls the trigger, sending several thousand volts shooting through your body. Any normal person likely would have dropped at this point, but your increased size and mass provides you with some measure of protection, allowing you to withstand the electrical assault, though you drop anyway, hurling yourself backwards in an attempt to crush your attacker. Having expected something similar however, the agent is already in motion, and is out from beneath you and out of striking range before you can fully recover. Of course, that's not enough to save him, as you activate your powers once more, focusing on the agent this time, causing him to shrink, the extra mass transferring back into the doll sized furniture you'd drawn your size and mass from earlier.

Before you can shrink him more than a foot or so however, you feel something small impact with your chest, followed by a loud bang as white smoke starts to fill your vision, causing you to loose sight of your target. Deciding that this smoke screen is just what you need to make your escape, you attempt to regain your feet, only to stumble, as sudden wave of dizziness washing over you. You try to shake it off, but it's no good, there's something in the smoke that's screwing with your balance and making you tired. Even in your current state, it doesn't take you look to come to the correct conclusion, you've been drugged! Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do about it at this point, and before you can get more than a few steps, your eye lids close and consciousness leaves you, your body slamming to the floor with a thunderous crash that shakes the apartment.

As the gas begins to dissipate, agents number one looks at his partner, both their faces mostly hidden behind gas masks and says "I tell you number two, I'm getting too old for this!"

"Tell me about it number one, I would have ended up as an inch high private eye if you hadn't had that gas grenade on you!" number two replied.

"Yea, but even so, it was a close one. I think when we get back I'll put in a transfer to something safer, like bomb disposal!" Agent one says with a laugh. "Now lets get a clean up crew in here, and tell them to bring a crane, I don't know if we'll be able to move this big lug otherwise." he says, gesturing towards your comatose form.

The two agents make the necessary arrangements, and before long your on a sub en route to the secret government base known simply as Facility 2.

A week latter, after extensive testing by the facilities medical personnel, you're finally allowed to awaken, the first sight to greet you being________________?
