With mass confusion at the scene, you figure that this is the best opportunity to get out of the area unnoticed, while everyone is sill focused on the now oversized student. You hop into your car, turning the ignition, and hastily setting the car into "drive". You manage to guide your car through streams of curiosity seekers crossing the street, not paying attention to oncoming traffic, but instead transfixed on the sight ahead of them. After about 10 minutes of crawling through the campus streets, giving your brakes a good workout, the throngs of people being to dissipate and give way to a road free of pedestrian activity. Pressing down on the accelerator, you see a squadron of campus police cars head in the opposite direction on the roadway, no doubt to try to sort out the mess you had just created.
Looking back into your rearview mirror, you can see June rise to her feet, towering over the crowd gathered around her and the nearby buildings, looking around, clearly stunned by the turn of events. The car starts to vibrate a little, and you realize that you've run off the edge of the road, and quickly focus your eyes back on your driving. You give one last glance into your rearview mirror and watch the seven story student disappear behind the crest of the hill.
You turn on the radio, and begin to drive faster along the two-lane highway.
"This is not a joke," a reporter on the radio remarks. "Again, for those of you who have just joined us, a female student on the campus of State University has suddenly grown to a spectacular 70 feet in height. At this point, she is remaining on campus, and is being cooperative with authorities. However, authorities are urging people to not come to the campus, and are reminding people that there is no reason to panic..."
You smile, knowing the chaos your actions have created.
"Authorities are offering no explanation at this point for the growth..." the voice on the radio continues, while you reach over to the center console and gently pat the matter transposer for a job well done, and contemplate your next move. Perhaps it would be fun to fuel the chaos by randomly growing a few other people... or would it be more alarming to shrink them? Decisions, decisions. Maybe it would be fun to use the transposer on yourself, just in case anyone got any ideas about trying to get it back from you, that is, if they can find you.
You near the interchange for the freeway, and it's pretty clear that you need to put some more distance between yourself and campus as you watch black cars with interior mounted warning lights stream in the opposite direction. You see a green guide sign at the side of the road.
"50 WEST - Wheatville - NEXT RIGHT"
"50 EAST - Metro City - SECOND RIGHT"
Meanwhile, on the radio, the announcer continues his broadcast "She... she... I really can't describe how enormous she looks from down here... All I can say is that we're really fortunate that she isn't acting out in any way, shape or form. Wait... she's motioning for the crowd to move back, and it looks like some people are moving, others are just standing there... Okay, it looks like the police are requesting that we move back and give her some more space... Obviously, we're in no position to anger her..."
