That was a net gain over your rival. You could pour on the offense now and force him to play keep up, but if he had the move growl (and thinks to use it next turn) You would lose your attack boost advantage. you could double down and go for a second curse to make yourself harder to deal with, but he might switch to a more offense strategy to try to wipe you out quickly.
